I've been in the Instructors group for some 18 months even though at the moment I'm not actively teaching classes. It's not that I don't want to, but with all the people who want to hire me I simply have no time. I was just wondering if I have to go through this new process or if we're all grandfathered in. Also, if an instructor leaves the group, can they later join again or do they have to be approved every time?

Hi Eggy!
I was just sort of asking Jeska something similar yesterday. I was approved as an instructor and mentor by Haney in January but am not listed as such. At the time, I was told that once I was in, I was in (unless I got banned or some such). I was also told that once I was okeyed for a class or a type of discussion, I did not need to get it reapproved. There have been so many changes, I need clarification, too. I would like to believe what I was told but who knows. I havent checked my email to see if Jeska has responded yet.

Hi, can you both do me a favor and submit an application through the Volunteer website to become approved instructors again? I am handling class support now. This is not because I don't trust your qualifications. Rather, I would like you both to be included in our new and improved system. The web site helps automate the whole process...please email me if you have any questions!

So though I am an instructor & have been for awhile I will reapply through the site. Should we do the same for mentoring as well? & also some of the classes Haney already approved me for does this mean I have to resubmit them to you for approval again?

Hello everyone...I too was approved by Haney as an instructor for an idea I had submitted for a class. That being a beginner photoshop class. What I had in mind was bare bones basic and I was about half way done with a "lesson plan" complete with images to show on a screen I had made and to include in a copy of the plan to give out at the class. Then Haney disappeared, I had RL complications and the whole affair sort of died. Reading the posts I can see the way back would be to reapply and I have no problem with doing that except now I'm beginning to wonder if the whole idea is any good. I've taught Photoshop online before, but one-on-one, and it isn't always the easiest thing to do. So basically I'm sitting here watching my feet turn blue and, I guess, hoping for some words of encouragement and/or advice. Actually I had decided to abandon the whole idea, but it keeps whispering to me...

I say go for it... there is no reason you cant limit the class size, esp if it is on your own land... maybe ask for enrollment ahead of time? Or.. create a tutorial.. give me an IM, I have some ideas.

At the very least you should try the classes a few times see how it goes. I know how much work goes into the classes & how discouraging it can get when so few show up but I stil think it's worth a shot. try to make the class plenty of time in advance & make sure lots of people know about it.
