I am only occasionally drifting into and out of the forum, so had't realised that the previous thread, to build/not to build a University had been locked because you were all naughty and took it waaaay off topic.

I suggest that someone start an Educational Consortium group, to which all interested parties could sign up. It would make an easy way to keep in touch with people who are organising their own educational programme or groups. I would suggest that everyone who runs an educational establishment/offers training could be an officer, and everyone who runs a location which could be used for classes, or is interested in the programme, a member.

If the spam spam spam on the mentor group is anything to go by, it would be good to work out what is acceptable and what is not...maybe no announcements on the group IM except those which apply to the whole group? ie, people shouldn't start announcing their bring and buy rummage sale on the Educational Consortium group IM.

Seems to me it is the best way to organise, and it would let you see who is interested and willing to be involved. It is possible that you could organise fund raising this way too. I think it would be great to have some specific content which raises money for education events, available only through a not-for-profit group.

Maybe people could think up content which would have a triple purpose: raise funds, publicise the group, and teach people something about an aspect of SL or SL building or scripting. Now there's a challenge....
