Well When i first heard of this program i signedup. But this last meeting left a bitter taste in my mouth. As A greeter i thought its was not the number of newbies we helped But to help those that asked for us in their start of their sl life. But when i experinced this last meeting was nothing more then EGO trips for some. What i assumed Jeska was refering to US in the last meeting as Great greeters and low quiity greeters and to created a ranking of great ones and aveage ones.. Is being a greeter going to be arace to be who will be a greatest greeter of them all Jeska? I also assumed hat she was trying to create "STAR" Greeters. I noticed in some cases that memebers in this great are getting "I am the Best EGO Trips" " i had no problems bla bla bla" in this program. Personsonally i don`t care about ego I just want to help people. Being a greeter is more them a ego trip its a way to show how well one can help new people out. I was so uptight about this last meeting i just left. If this is the path this program is going into its not going to work. Ok there are some great people in this program am i am happy to work with those people. But Ego driven people that only think i am greatest can only cause harm to the program. Maybe i alittle more involved this concept of helping in a pure way then most.

Interesting. I will admit I'm not wild about the whole "rankings" thing or however you want to categorize it as I do fear it will become a "competition" as to whom the best greeter(s) are. I don't want the Greeter program to become about quanity of rankings/ratings or whatever you would like to call it.
I like it best when we work as a team helping one another out. Offering suggestions & making SL a more welcoming place for the new residents.(as is what the goal supposed to be) Personally, I feel like we work wonderfully as a team & I found some of the input helpful from the other greeters. It was nice to know that I'm not the only one having certain issues/concerns & nice to know that some of those will be addresed.
As far as "ego trips" that's not what I got from the meeting & It would be my hope that it doesn't become that way as it would be against the nature of what the program is designed for.
As far as I know many of the greeters are talented people & certainly wouldn't need the the greeters program to stroke their egos.

unfortunately, i missed both meetings.. but i really meant to be present for at least one of them. from what i can gather, there's talk of some sort of rating sysytem? or tier per amount of new residents helped by Greeters? not sure, but i agree that fame has nothing to do with this program. i joined this program for the same reasons as everyone else, to help. i don't expect, much less need, any type of recognition. the only possible positive would be for new residents to tell others of their experience, but that would work better in the forums. even then, it feels a bit.. icky. personally, i feel like an outsider to the whole Greeter program community. i'm not in-world very often and as such don't get many requests. the first one i received was from someone who never materialized. when i do a search. he's not there. anyhoo, it's a great group ad i'm glad to be part of it.. even if some "fame system" is put in place.. knowing i'll never make the "top of the pops" anyway.

I glade I am not the only one feeling this. I joined not because of Ego Issues But that of purly wanting to help. I really Hope Jeska takes notice to this issue because it might cause a rumble in the greeters if there is a "STAR" greeters then we all in problems.

Yeah, I have zero interest in competing against others for Best Greeter title or whatever. Zero.

From: Usagi Musashi I like to hear jeska view on this............. I was able to read the meeting mins. This is but an area that needed a big boost if Second Life has a bigger that most learning curve then we must teach the new folks how to interact in this program. Don’t be fooled that Second Life is being marketed anymore as a GAME ..ITS NOT. There are two types of users of this program. The first ( and my group ) Real online gamers. Then there is the Second; People that came into this program as quasi gamers but soon turned into some new form of online being, I call them the EbayisteringdidntworkIhavephotoshopskillsandC++101andneedtomakemoneyandlookslikeIcaninhere’s. Want to know why chatting in a group im is so viscous its this second group, you mess them up from making or planning things to make money with the screen clutter ( that simple ). Not to lose focus on the topic the reason that it came across like a rating system.. Duh it is. Psych 101 mixed with marketing 101. I would bet a lunch on this idea being tossed around in a tight closed door staff meeting. Stroke their Ego and they will do our bidding. Hence another rating system is born. ( kinder and gentler name “ praise “ ) High speed Low Drag and Almost Zero overhead costs. The human Ego is a basic core Tool of leadership and people management; Control his Ego and you control him ! Look at the programs Leaderboard never been overhauled, only field that means anything is the net worth the rest is a marketing Stroker Tool . The 3 other rating mean nothing. Hell I had 55 builder ratings before I Rez’ed my first prim. But in fact they do mean something ratings meant more money so people held big parties gatherings ,, what ever it took to trade them, get them. The only reason the price when up is it got caught up in the bigger marketing plans code name “ Dry Bank “ i.e..tighten the noose around all the cash flow and make sure we hold the end of the rope. Anyway yes if I praise you, you will work harder and in this area teach the new folks. Show the new folks, and start them on there way to the end goal......... there ATM CARD. Bottom line, Please don’t dick with us True online Gamers to much, We really enjoy the program and We did get your company off the ground Don’t forget your Roots ! -Waves
