Hi
I was wondering how Linden lab made their road network without having lag. I am so interested in the linden roads.

Mostly because many of the mainland roads in SL are still paper roads. They have no objects on them. This said, the objects alongside any road, paper or otherwise, can lag you hellishly when not a lot of thought is put into their construction.
An example of how to manage a low-lag region while allowing people to build creatively is The Wastelands sims. (and lots of others as well) No mainland-type roads as such at the Wastelands, but lots of walkways, roading and rail right-of-ways. Apocalypse may not be your thing, but its worth a look for anyone thinking about building in SL.
