my wife and i started playing SL today... got done making our charachters and such... and then BAM we noticed a cruel glitch... we can't see anything... not even in the find people feature... we can SEE the same people in find people ... but not eachother and not the same people in the immediate area... like other first time players in the noobie area don't sh ow up... help please =)

First, it's best to ask your questions in-world. Use the Live Help item from under the Help menu in the Second Life app. That way, we can ask questions about your setup and give you a solid answer, rather than a guess.
Now for my guess... Since it's you and your wife, I figure you're running SL on two computers of your home network. This can cause trouble with some routers/switches and a simple adjustment can make things right again. Here's a link to the solution: Second Life Wiki: TechMultiplePCs |
