Hi, I'm new to second life and i'm having some issues getting conected...
When I try to connect to the service, everything looks like it's going fine and then right as the progress bar gets to the end, during the precache stage, the client crashes.
any tips hints, tricks?
Thanks!

To both of the posts above. You need to send an email to support@secondlife.com, detailing your problems. They can then help you. This forum is not equipped to answer your type of questions.
Second life support can help you troubleshoot your connecting problems.

Jen's suggestion is really the best - contact support with your troubles. Alternatively - you can get help from other residents by posting to the Technical Issues forum. While you're waiting though - one tip: Compare your computer's video card specs with the minimum system requirements here: Video/Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce 2, GeForce 4mx, or better OR ATI Radeon 8500, 9250, or better A lot of budget PC's have what's called on-board video, and "shared memory", which doesn't work very well with SL. If your video card proves to be the culprit, and providing you can afford it - the best solution is to go out & purchase a new video card. You can typically find a low-end one for under $50-$75, and they're fairly easy to install. Hope this helps!
