No, you don't have to pay. You cannot own land, though. But I've heard there are lots of places that you can rent. Of course, you'll need a job in order to earn $L's to pay the rent.

I first joined as a freebie, just to see if I liked it. There's an option to join for $9.95 a month, and you get paid a stipend.

Hope this helps.

I just realized that I posted in a forum that I probably shouldn't have. Please excuse me, as I was just scrolling through the forums to see what the current issues and ideas are.

I still hope the answer helps.

Joao: You can play for free. In order to rez things and *keep* them rezzed in world, you need to own or rent land. You can rent on either the mainland or on a private estate.

If you want to own mainland, you must become a Premium member ($9.95 per month, or $72 per year.) This entitles you to own up to 512 sq. meters of land without paying tier (a monthly land charge, like property taxes) on it. You must still purchase the land first, though. Premium membership also pays you a L$300 per week stipend.

Angelina...don't apologize. You don't have to be a volunteer to post here! All helpful helping helpers are welcome.
