This is what I did...

1. I had a scripted object...owned by me.
2. I created a group and deeded the object to the group.
3. Currently the group is owned by me and no one else is a member.
4. But I couldnt any more modify the object script

What should I dod to get the object back under my ownership

Thank you very much for your inputs

First get a second member into your group, otherwise it will be disbanded.

Sell it back to yourself. Since you are the only group member, all the money you pay the group for it will come back to you (as long as the group doesn't get deleted first for having only one member, see above post). If you make it free, or even cheap, there is a chance someone else will buy it between the time you set it for sale and the time you are able to click through the menus to buy it, so perhaps set it for a price that is far more than it is worth....

Based on what you're saying/asking... I think this is what happened:

1. You had a scripted object... owned by you.

(I'm assuming it was *created* by you too.) If it was, by default you'll have full permissions over that object, but the 'Next Owner' permissions are set to most restrictive. (No-Mod, No-Copy, allow transfer).

2. You created a group, and *deeded* the object to the group.

This is the real important part. While the object is of course still in your possession - the act of 'Deeding' is actually a change in ownership. Before, you owned the object. Now, the Group owns the object.

3. (Irrelevant)

4. You can't anymore modify the object script.

As a result of #2 above, 'Next Owner Permissions' were invoked. The object, and all the scripts inside - are now flagged as No-Mod, No-Copy for ever more :( This is probably why you're no longer able to modify the object, or the scripts inside. Even if you sell the object back to yourself, you'll still be stuck with 'Next Owner Permissions', so that isn't going to help.

Hopefully, before you deeded the object, you took a copy of it into your inventory. If you didn't, (and sorry to be the bearer of bad news here) - you're probably SOL, and will have to start over and recreate the object & scripts inside. :(

Not sure how much this helps - but hopefully it makes some sense :)

possible solution

If you set the item to the group ownership.. you will have to have the Group Tag Active in order to have full mod powers on items owned by the group... I was frustrated at first that I couldn't even get into my group owned home, until I activated my group tag. If you added a group recently, that new one defaults as the active group.

I am not sure this will solve your problem, but I hope it helps in a small way.

Right.. set your group title to your group.. you should then be able to control it again, and get at least one more member into your group. SL will disband the group after about 3 days if not.

Lambert... : I did exactly what you said...yes I lost the object..i figured it out later...!

Anyways..had a copy with a partial scripting done saved some time back..so wrote the remaining again.

And thanks everyone for your inputs...will for sure make sure the permissions are set before doing this..and for sure will take a copy..before doing such stuffs :)

And yes have another member added to my group to make sure it is not deleted.

Thank you all
