Clouds and changing avs

I know, these two don't go together, but I thought I'd do one post instead of two...

I just bought land that is exactly at cloud level; is there a way to turn off the clouds or prevent them from billowing through my house? I don't mind seeing them outside, but seeing them drifting through my living space is bothersome.

Regarding avs, is there a way to change avs without completely quitting the SL client and restarting it?

TIA for your help :-)

Hi Klaatu

For the clouds you need the Debug menu. If you don't already have Client and Server (these two comprise the Debug menu) at the top of your screen, you have to switch it on by pressing ctrl-alt-D.

Go into Client and scroll down to Rendering. Click on that and you'll see another list. Click Types and that will show you all the things you can switch off - one of them is Clouds.

You'll have to reset it every time you log on, unless you save your settings under the debug settings tab - but I can't remember where that is offhand and I'm not in-world.

I'm afraid I don't know about the avatar - I've never changed mine.

Hope this helps.

What do you mean exactly?? Are you trying to change from 'human' av to say a 'mini' av?

Cheers

Switching AVs

Klaatu - I asked this question in-world and was given a very definite "No there isn't a way" from a long-time resident with multiple avs. So it's quit and restart the client to login as a different av. A logout/login without client close would be nice to have... but quite low on my list of priorities!

It is possible to change your appearance at any time.
To my knowledge, to log out and in with a different name, you must quit and restart the client.

Concerning clouds, you could perhaps try building your home up in the air above cloud level. ;) Or if you can, raise or lower the land.

If you do disable clouds in the debug menu, that only affects your client. Others will still see the clouds.
