In your Library Clothing folder there are a lot (all?) of the "newbie" shapes. Just right click on one and wear it.
If you right click/wear on the folders, for example the "city chic male", you will put on the shape plus all the clothes in that folder. If you just want to change your shape, right click/wear the shape file in that folder.
