Live Help for Watermelon gun attacks? (To stop them, that is, not if you are wanting some extra gunhands .)

From: Brent Linden's Profile About text
If you've got an icky bug in need of duplicating, I'm your man! If someone is chasing you around with a Watermelon gun, call Live Help (which also signals a Liaison!)

The idea of calling the Live Help people to deal with attack by watermelon gun would never have occured to me. I think of it as people to ask questions of.

Does anyone do that, what ensues, and how well does it work out?

Sure Torley, and the guys at the WA who get suspended for things they say never do it either. ;)

Uhhh..Watermelon gun you say? Not the dual barrel, laser sighted Watermelon Ejector Fifteen Thousand, by any chance? The one mounted on the underside of a steam-powered airship named Betsy-Lou? Uhhh... Not that I would know anything about that. Just curious you understand :D

It could well have been one of my Evil Twins. It's so hard to keep track of them all...

I guess as an alternative he could have said "Open the Find->People window, click the Online checkbox, type "Linden" in the text box and click on search. Look through the profiles of each online Linden until you find one that is a member of the Liaisons group".

;)

I think the point is to hail a Liaison, not to get the opinion of resident volunteers. He found a very succinct way to say it. I don't have a problem with that.

That's what I do. I would sort of hope that the Liaisons would have some obligation to be discrete that derives from the desire to protect their incomes. It is rare that I get a response from a Liaison when I ask a question of the Live Help folk, although that may be because I am usually relaying some boring question from someone else that doesn't need Liaison attention.

How can someone who can spell Ushuaia spell Liaison wrong? ;) And who stuck that extra i in liaison anyway?

Why do I do what?

I was in the preview grid. I looked at an object that was owned by Brent Linden. I read his profile. It made me wonder something, so I asked a question.

The question about the extra i in liaison is a joke. That letter drives me nuts at times.

I haven't said anything mean or rude or insulted anyone. What's the problem?

Sorry no problem. I read your post initially as derisive. This does happen quite often though and Brent is correct. At any time there at least two liaisons tagged on with the LH group. If they are busy and we receive a griefing complaint, we simply shake the Linden tree in the LH channel or by direct contact. It has been quite effective so I have no problem with Brent's profile statement.

The watermelon gun is pretty much fun if you up the velocity a bit.

To counterattack the kickback, the gun can fire two watermelons, in opposite directions. This is rough on whatever might be behind you but war is, after all, war, and some collateral damage may be unavoidable.

Collateral probably has some connection with "on the sides", I would think, what would the damage that occurs directly behind be called - derriere damage or some such?

This may be part of why calling Live Help when you need a Linden seems odd:
From: someone
(From the Live Help IM chat window) Welcome to Live Help, where volunteers help their fellow residents with questions about Second Life.
That sounds to me like where you go for help from volunteers. Not for help from employees. Later in that initial message it says:
From: someone
Please note, unless the person responding has the last name Linden, LIVE HELPERS ARE NOT LINDEN STAFF MEMBERS
In that paragraph, at first glance, the only part that stands out to me visually is the part that says "LIVE HELPERS ARE NOT LINDEN STAFF MEMBERS". It's the magic of ALL UPPERCASE.
