Inventory pop-up menus disappearing

This problem appeared when I upgraded to release 1.18.4(3). If I go to an inventory folder, for llustration purposes I'll use "Notecards", when I right click on the folder the pop-up menu containing the "New Folder", "New Script", "New Note" .... appears. This menu used to remain frozen until you selected an item from the list or clicked away from it. Now it will appear for short period of time and disappear. This time varies from about <1 second to about 2 seconds needless to say it is very difficult to select an item from the list, you have to be fast!

I am not sure that if this is related it has been going on for a long time and basically I have been ignoring it. However there may be some relationship here so I will include the information. If I select "Away" my aviator will show "away" for about 10 seconds and then return to not away status. This is not a big issue with me, it is just that there may be some relationship here.

Windows XP Pro SP2
AMD Athlon64 Processor 3200+ 2.00Ghz
1.00 GB RAM
Display EVGA GeForce 7600GT 256MB DDR3 PCI Express
Drivers NVIDIA 6.14.10.9147

Note: I was using a different mother board and display adapter and had the problem with that hardware also using Second Life Release Candidate at the same level.
(Mother Board died and I had to replace it)

Hmm, thats pretty strange. Would indicate to me that something is telling the client that you are moving the mouse or typing on the keyboards when you actually are not. This would account for the AFK turning off, and the context menu being dismissed. However what is causing it would be hard to diagnose. I would probably start by updating the drivers on my keyboard and mouse. Do you by chance have a joystick attached, or any other input device?

P.S. this probably should have been posted in the Technical Issues forum. :)
