Dear Second Life residents.
I am a very newbie to Second life and have used the search in the Knowledge base and also through google under every variation of words to try to find out what I have done wrong but I can't seem to find anythigng in the FAQ or forum 'before posting' and i stayed up til 4am last night trying to work it out and I am still no further so I hope you will be patient with what must seem like a silly question.
i joined up and chose i ( i found out later as a female ( which I am) wood elf.I changed my appearance etc to a human female person. But yet no matter even though the radio button is on 'Female' in the apperance tab as in the directions as Female.
All my Gestures that are active and my Voice if I type say /hey for example is all Male sounding nad Male Gestures not female and I can't for the life of me find on the net how to fix what I have done.
Would someone have the patience to direct me to a url where I can find out how to fix what I have done wrong? or perhaps tell me if it's simple to fix?
thanks for your time
--------- p.s since theni have found after more hours of looking that if I go to the pie and edit the sound of each gesture by highlighting each active gesture e.g hey and then click edit down the bottom and then I am Supoosed to chose fromthe Drop Down Menu Female but i only have the word NONE in there and it said that there should be female and male . and then I am supposed to click save and then repeat for each gesture. It appears I dont' have this drop down menu , it only says NONE there is no Female to pick from for sound etc. Is this the avatar or are those instructions old that I found ? thanks again I really appreciate your patience and time with me.

Try posting this in the Resident Answers Section. People will see it then.
I don't think anyone reads this particular section, its a legacy board.

You havn't done anything wrong. Gestures are built by residence and they sometimes use there own voice. The default gestures, such as "please" is in a female voice but others are male. Go into your gestures folder and deactivate all the male ones. If I remember, there is a Male folder and a female folder and when you start out some in each is activated. Try that.

Go to your Inventory. Look in both the Inventory and the Library folders for Gestures. Any that you find that are boldface are active. Right click them and select Deactivate. (You might have to do it more than once. Keep trying until it stops appearing in boldface). Now, go to Library/Gestures/Female Gestures. Open that folder and Activate all the gestures in it. Next, go to Common Gestures. Activate only those gestures that you think you will use. NOTE: Some of them might have a male voice. You can still use them if you want, though.) Next, go to Other Gestures. Repeat, activating those that you want. Gestures may be triggered from the Gestures drop down menu, from an assigned hotkey, or from a chat command ("/hey" . You can edit how a gesture is activated in the Edit/Gestures menu. You can also buy additional gestures, or find them in freebie packs. Since you want to portray a female, choose those that are feminine, and/or have a feminine voice as the audio component of the gesture.

I remember my favorite toy to play with when I started SL was gesture creation. So much so that I have a whole collection of Japanese greetings including a couple silly statements. "Pantsu Kudasai!" for example. =^-^=
The library gestures are best laughed at. But, are still enjoyable if even just for nostalgia alone. Really... Spend any amount of time around a fun crowd... You'll find your gesture collection quickly growing sooner or later. (^_^)y
