I am in need of help to solve this matter. I have built a home with my GF, but for some reason, in the hallway, on floor area is an invisable lump-you cant see it, but its there...I've checked ground under house..its fine, I've also gone into edit mode and held down ALT&CTRL to see if it was a ghost item...Nothing is to be seen. I'f i raise the house up off the land its fine...but when i lower it back to ground level, the invisable lump is there again...HELP PLZ

I have one of these, I tried to rez an object which failed but there's a space I can't walk into and nothing shows up in "highlight transparent". Not knowing what else to do I've stuck something else in the space to cover the obstacle. )c:

Because raising the house makes the problem go away it sounds like there is a difference between the "physics" of the ground and the rendering of the ground. I suggest that you terraform the invisible bump down...

Restarting the sim will work. We used to have this isse on a sim where we rented, and after getting about 12 Lindens standing around and walking into a non-existant wall, they restarted the sim and the problem resloved.
Now that I have my own sim, I do the same whenever this problem crops up and it goes away. Ask Live Help for a Linden to restart the sim due to a non-existant physical object. _____________________

It could very well be a "ghosted" item, which will still occupy space but isn't really there because it was a: rezzed with the wrong group title on in group-build only land or b: over prim limit. I've had this happen before, rather than being returned to inventory it lands in the mysterious 0,0,0 of a region. Fly to 0,0 of your region, turn off terrain (Client - Rendering - Surface Path if memory serves correctly) and check for your items down there. On islands it's kind of nifty to terraform down there to see all the junk hanging slightly off-world!
![]() If you're having problems, a Linden can return the stuffs to you. Also, try asking the parcel owner at 0,0 to keep an eye out for junk! |

Ah, that sounds entirely more likely - it's not a ground lump as it's in a skybox. And the parcel at 0,0 has 90 objects owned by others, no others and no autoreturn. Unfortunately (it's Lippert) it's also quite high up so I can't reach anything.
But that does bode well, the land's just been sold so I'm sure shortly we'll all get our bits back when the new owner notices the interlopers. |

I had this problem a few times, first time back in 2004. Back then after the Linden's scratched their heads for a few days it was suggested I replaced the prim the invisable force field was covering ... that worked.
The latest was a cpl of months ago in a skybox, I unlinked the box and the problem disappeared. |

Maybe the previous owner buried his wife there and let her bum stuck out of the ground so he could have somewhere to park his Hog??

When this happened to ME, I got luckey...sent a Help Request, and the Linden came to the location in about 3 minutes & removed it. If I remember right, she DID have to restart the Sim, since I only owned about a 4th of it.

I've seen several of these that have been there for 6 months - though many, many sim restarts..
Not saying that a restart won't fix some of them, just that it doesn't fix all of them. _____________________

Can the owner that has the land give the things back to me or do I need a Linden? thank you. |

hmm I have just encountered this problem in our new house - can't see it, can't select it just keep bumping into it. Have asked sim owner to look into it but nada so far. Hope this goes away soon its annoying to remove all your belongings and it still be there. Oh well I guess we can redecorate with a screen around it but the missus will be mad.

Try doing an ctrl-alt-T to show transparent objects. If that fails try what was said in post #8 _____________________

I will tell you how I did it. I am not sure if it will work for you. Not how I did it hehe anyway. First off you need to go to to the 0,0,0 of the region. When you get there then you have to turn on debug ctrl-alt-shift-D That should make the Client and server menu come up. next you need to remove the land you are on ctrl-shift-alt-5 Then after that you should be able to zoom close to your lost object (with your camera angles) Your Avatar will still stay up were the ground is. Now if it works and you got your object just have to do the ctrl-shift-alt-5 to bring the land back. Hope this works. |

Lump Removal
05-29-2007 04:24
woohoo!
Thank you all especially Najmah Hanayani and Fox Diamond - that pesky bump is gone. I found the objects below the land at 0,0,0 and was able to move them back inside the region border. It turns out that the missus lost a hotub and a plant - althought these had been returned to her lost and found folder they were un-named objects that she could not delete. However when I managed to move the objects back into the region, even tho she could not see the in-world objects, she was then able to delete them from her folder and the in-world objects disappeared leaving our living room free for strolling. |
