Scrpting: Help me to help others - Need to get a foundation of LSL from C++

Alright, I programmed in C++ for a couple years, and then in java for a year and a half, all back in high school. Even won a few medals and went to regional competition.

Thing about LSL... I cannot for the life of me figure out where to begin to understand it, is there a fellow mentor, or a friend of a mentor that can give me an understanding of LSL? Once I have it down, I'll be more than happy to teach, help, and show others LSL.

I've written poker, blackjack, craps, a few atri-like games, and a banking system in C++. I'm eager to figure this language out.

Just hoping a mentor could work with me.

When you get there, check out the examples. Also, if you're working on a specific scripting module/task and get stumped, do an advanced Forum search in the Scipting Library and Scripting Tips section:
