I was getting rather bored with doing my own thing, and recently went to Freebie Island and started helping noobies on my own... and had a BLAST! I think I would love helping out!
The only thing is, I would like to volunteer under one of my alts and not this main account,
My questions would be:
How do I go about volunteering as greeter or mentor? and what are the requirements?

The requirements to be a SL mentor is beeing at least 6 month old.
But you can be a mentor withut beeing a SL mentor one. You can go by your own to the public Help Islands and help people.
Also I know there are volunteer groups not related with the official SL mentors.

Graph, To volunteer to be a Mentor: Log on to the SL web page with your chosen account, go to the Volunteer page ( http://secondlife.com/community/volunteer.php), and fill out a short application. There's a six month residency requirement. You can also join one of the many unofficial volunteer helper groups. I'm a member of Help People! and GQ Start. There's also NCI and The Shelter and The Birdies, plus others of which I'm not aware. (As a graphic artist, your talents and experince might make for some great NCI or GQ Start courses.) Not to mention that you can help WITHOUT joining anything at all. Just show up in a place full of newbies, such as Help Island Public, Orientation Island Public, or a welcome area or infohub. Take a copy of Lucrezia Lamont's great Newbie Info Kit, and a folder or two (not a box, preferably) of freebies. It's also a good idea to wear a titler ("Got Questions? I Got Answers!" and a MystiTool with Movelock turned on. All these areas tend to be infested with showoffs and griefers, along with the newbies. If you like helping the rawest of newcomers and don't want to wait for your approval to the Mentors group, create a new alt, and leave him on Orientation Island. Send him a copy of your infokit, freebies, a Babbler, and a few clothes and things for his comfort. Make a notecard of often-repeated phrases, and cut and paste them to chat. This will keep you from going crazy while typing "to drop the torch, right click it and select Detach" for the thousandth time.
