My question is(if it's possible) : can you tell me if there is the possibility to entry in the volunteers program???
I hope to become a SL italian mentor because i like help newbie and teach them the SL "life"....I'm also a teacher scripter and the owner helper in the Second Italia land.
Thanks for your patients but everyday I try and everytime i'm sorry for the responce.....
Good work and thanks from bagaglio Albatros

Unfortunately, Linden Lab is not accepting new applications for the volunteer program at this time. They have not said when applications would be re-opened.

In the meantime, there are many independent helper groups that could use your services. I especially recommend the Help People! Institute. Send Brett Dumont an IM for further information.

I am in the same boat as yourself, bagaglio. Except I have been waiting since January or something silly. Basically, LL are no longer hiring Mentors. They are going to be filling new roles for Greeters soon, but it looks like they may fill those from the existing Mentors rather than 'hire' new folks. Do not ask me what the difference is because I'm assuming folks will expect Greeters to help them too and not just stand there and say "Hello, welcome to SL, if you need help too bad I can't help 'cos I'm a greeter not a mentor." It seems to be just a question of a new title. Although current mentors don't seem happy about the idea.

In the meantime, I know of numeorus helpful, talented people queuing up to help LL in an official capacity, but who are getting increasingly discouraged with the Lab's attitude. I have signed up to Second Ability Mentors, and I already volunteer at Info Island International. I recommend both groups as places where your help will actually be wanted and appreciated. The Lab just have too many folks to choose from, which leads them to neglect (albeit unintentionally I'm sure) a lot of those volunteers.

Thanks to you Georgette ....yes ,help new person i'ts also possible wiyhout to be a second life mentor ,and I belive that I will continue to go on in my way...
I've listened your word and of Lindal too and I will call Brett Dumont to explane me what can I do to help ather people wiyhout have a mentor tag....
All this only because in my land at the moment there is not a great trafic of Avatar and sometime i don't know what to do.
Certainly that being replaced by greeter is not 'just the same ... even in the SL change
avatar with machines? I think that Newbie is already 'too "agitated" in Welcome and help Island and perhaps would be better if aid were "physical", not multimedia.
The tag still mentor is a symbol of passion and "competence" in the game and also demonstrates the hard road that we must make to become ....I wait' and meanwhile teach Scripting and lighthouse Helper at my landpoint.
Many thanks again for your patience and a huge hello to all.

Hi, Georgette!

Greeters are just Mentors who specialize in helping at the entry points to SL...Help Island and the Welcome Areas. They don't just say, "Welcome to SL", they help newcomers with the basics like how to move, how to change their appearance, how to find things in inventory and so on.

I spend most of my time helping out in this fashion. Other mentors work in ways that feel right to them...

Thats the new Mentor meeting notes from today.

"Blue Linden: We’ve drawn up our plans and are ready to move on them….we expect new Greeters group to be ready by the end of the year….and hopefully that will mean we can open up applications in early January…."
