As agreed on the last monthly mentor meeting, I'll be in charge of creating a list of cool places in Second Life that will be some kind of official standard for the Mentor group. Obviously, we need to do this by democratic procedures, unless you all trust my omnipotence and wisdom, which is something that I highly doubt I'll be posting my ideas and progress in this thread. I have a couple things already prepared, such as a prim "catalog" that can be used to manage the lists with a very user friendly combination of prims, snapshots and notecards. For the moment, send me landmarks and/or notecards with cool places in Second Life, and why you think they are cool (please, only mentors!) When I have a big enough list I'll post it here and we'll agree on a voting system to choose the best of the best.

A Place for Clothing at nearly no cost
02-02-2006 20:27
hi Sarge,
The Complete Man, Grignano 186,245
Thai Greenacre has graciously put together a big box of freebies for men. Lots of jeans, with socks, t shirts and shoes. I like to carry about 5 of these boxes in my inventory to hand out.

Places for Newbies
02-03-2006 07:42
The first place I send them is the Orientation Center just over the hill from Welcome Area #4. It provides them with great information and a few lindens extra to get them started. I provide them the landmark to the White Tower for instruction in building. I also have a collection of landmarks of the freebie sites where they can get some basic items. I pass them a notecard so they can contact me anytime they have a question. Finally, I pass them several landmarks to several quiet gardens and peaceful areas to get away from it for a while.

I'd LOVE if you could send me all those landmarks and notecards, George! Thanks everyone for your contributions. Now I have a real load of places that I'll have to sort out next week

I give all newbies the landmark for The Ivory Tower of Primitives in Noyo (where they can learn to build) and the GNUbie Dollar Store in Indigo. Quality stuff for a buck! Both places are in my picks , I think.

Hope I'm not out of line by posting on this thread, but as a newbie, you might like to know that one place me and my newbie friends really freaked out about was the Gnubie Store, we loved that place when we were first brought there by someone I contacted through Live Help.

Sarg.. you still looking for entries? ElvenGlen (activities and visual pleasure) Serenite (gorgeous landscaping) (Dreams, of course, for friendly help beyond the welcome/HI area) Fallingwater Cellardoors (Shiny Things?) for a display of prim flowers that are awesome HomeDepoz and Kitchen Korner to see how RL can translate into SL

I've been giving out my own folder of landmarks (I can get them to you in-world later). What happened to this resource?

Hi again I just wanted to tell you all that, due to my almost absolute lack of gaming time in SL, I have passed all my landmarks to Char Linden, who was creating a very similar list.
