You might want to check out NCI, the New Citizen Inc. group. It has classes in all sorts of features of SL.
There's even an NCI scripting group, which I should join, if I can figure out what other group to leave so I can join one.
For scripting, both the official LL wiki and the lslwiki.net are good sources of info.
The scripting, building, texturing, animation, etc. forums here are good places to ask questions on those topics.
