Some helpful hints to lessen IM nightmares:

1.) If someone asks "is there a scripting mentor" etc, there is NO NEED for everyone to say "no", "no but i can <insert other trade>"....if you can't then don't say anything...if you can say yes. Same goes with asking if someone can come help a newb, and in general.

2.) If you don't want to be bothered by the IM, just close it you DON'T need to leave it open getting every response...just close the IM and be done with it if you don't want it.

3.) To help lessen aggravation of getting the IM spam, talking without spacing("hieveryonewhatsup";), going off about random things ("WOW its sunny today";), asking others how they are today ("sooooooo how are you today.....";) are all things you want to avoid.

4.) When a Linden starts the IM to ask for a mentor to help someone no need to say "HI <insert linden name> how are you what are you doing, when does your shift end, can you come to help island and clean it up... etc...) that just creates much unwanted IM spam..if you feel as though you REALL REALLY want to say "Hi" send them a private IM on the side, or if Help Island needs to be cleaned just throw a litter marker on it and next time a Linden stops by hopefully they will remove it if they aren't busy, if it really is messy and the world will end if it is not cleaned right away, there is always Live Help to ask for a linden to clean it when they have a moment. This ALSO applies to ANYONE who starts a session in the mentor group.

5.) IM'ing the group to inform all 700+ of us there is a griefer in the welcome area or on Help Island is unneeded. Also no need to IM the group and say "Is there a Linden Available" if you need a linden for either a griefer or any other reason contact Live Help Lindens are ALWAYS listening in on ALL Live Help IM's.

6.) If someone IM's the group asking for help on Help Island or any where else no need for a "no...sorry" "cant busy" **OR** "tp me" its really NOT that hard, just open the map type in Help Island...no need to spam the group asking for a TP, saying "yes i can" or "will be there in 5 min." can be helpful to let the people asking for help that help is on the way. Also it helps to include how many volunteers are currently there, and how many newbs. (Helps to determine how much help is needed) *ALSO* it REALLY helps to give the location where the help is needed. If its in a WA, SPECIFY which WA it is.

7.) If you are going to start mentoring you don't need to IM the group and say "Hey, I'm going to be on <Help Island and / or the Welcome area> if anyone needs me " If you feel inclined to share you are here, use the Help Island Communicator to tell the other volunteers on <Help Island and / or the Welcome area> you are there, the world does not need to know that you are going to start to Mentor. (Communicator part only applies to if you are on script enabled land Help Island or Waterhead street circle thingy)

8.) Asking if there is something wrong with the grid or if anyone else is having lag issues, if you think there might be an issue contact Live Help, don't ask the mentor group chance's are if there are issues, Live Help will know and if there isn't an issue Live Help wont get mad at you for asking, but asking in the mentor group when nothing is wrong :X (hums funeral music)

9.) Asking if someone can give or lend you money. If you need money go earn it, buy it, or ask someone personally, no need to ask the entire group.

***Disclaimer***
(*Fast Note: These are all my ideas on what would help to lessen Mentor Group Spam, and none of these are actually rules just helpful hints!*)

Also don't get annoyed if no one answers you the SECOND you ask your question in Live Help, it might take a few MINIUTES before someone is able to get to you!***

MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMBER:
LINDEN'S RULE!!!

Very well defined without getting pushy. The ONLY aspect i disagree with is when someone requests reinforcements in a welcome area or on help island. If the first person or two says "im on my way" or "will be there in 3 minutes" that is a short, sweet confirmator response that actually provides a solution. And it lets the other mentors fully know how well manned the given location is.

My only addition would be any request for reinforcements should attempt to say how many volunteers are in the area and how many new citizens are present. And dont forget to say WHICH area you are referring to. We do have multiple welcome areas and multiple orientation islands too.
