I've had awful luck with hiring scripters or buying packaged scripts designed for builders and now, I just want to learn LSL.
I am a web developer IRL. I know JS, Actionscript, ASP and PHP(to a lesser degree than the others.) I'm comfortable with writing code (most have the same general principles, variables, arrays, functions blah blah blah) and I'm ok with editing existing LSL scripts I find, but I'd like to actually take a "class" on it because teaching myself through trial and error will take longer to get to where I want to be.
Where are the best classes for LSL? I don't like tutorial stations. I'd rather a person be there so I can ask questions when I get stuck.
I'm not apposed to paying for classes either as long as it's a serious teacher and not someone with the same general skill set I already have.
Help?

Not what you asked, but there is a book. Search Amazon.
There are also some scripter groups in SL. They help one another a lot.

Groups are great if I knew what I was doing. I'm in the Blender group on SL and it really only helps you if you say "I'm trying to use sculpt paint and I get this bug" not "Omg how do I make a sculpted object." I would just be a burden on a group at this point. I could pay someone to make the scripts I want, but should they break, should I need new scripts, should I need tweaks, then I'm hosed because in my experience continual relationships with scripters never work. I'd rather pay someone to teach me how to do it and is there for a little bit for me to ask questions. As for the book, we have a wiki. So why invest in something that could be old already when you have a free wiki. Thanks for answering. I just need to find a class.

There are classes on LSL almost every day listed in the Education category of the Events tab of the Search engine.
They cover everything from the basics to the advanced. Look there and try to find some that sound like they would be at your level.

If you really know all those programming languages, then you just need http://www.lslwiki.net and some practice.

NCI has scripting classes. There's also at least two colleges of scripting - I forget their names, but they're physical (heh) locations that include LSL tutorials.

From: Kahiro Watanabe If you really know all those programming languages, then you just need http://www.lslwiki.net and some practice. Not really, a lot of the stuff on the wiki isn't necessarily written with best practices in mind, and that's what I want. What I have now is a lot of code that is edited and reedited and while it works, it is laggy and would probably break in a second if LL updated their system.
