It's at midnight for me. If I'm still awake I'll come along, but I'm travelling all day Friday so I won't guarantee it.

And here's the transcript!

Tateru Nino: Okay. Thankyou for coming along, dears. Usual rules apply. Tat is the chair. Speak in turn. Let people finish. If momma Tat tells you to hush or pipe down, please do. That way we all get a chance to be heard, and to listen.
Tateru Nino: Official items first, then discussion items, then random crossed conversations and sheep-to-sheep combat.
sheep thunderdome: (via Lethe Naumova) TWO SHEEP ENTER ONE SHEEP LEAVES
Tateru Nino: Alrighty. First item, from Jeska.
<u>Tateru Nino</u>Ginny Gremlin shudders from fright
Sweetcandie Mifflin: Hello
Tateru Nino: Yes, the greeter hub is still giving trouble, but MOST (not all, most) of the bugs appear to have been worked out.
Ginny Gremlin: the only problem is when someone tries to use it
Lethe Naumova: it's because we upgraded it to a HAL 9000 system
Tateru Nino: If it's not working for you, try detaching your Greeter HUD and reattaching it. LL's going to be watching it closely.
Tateru Nino: If the script borks it won't work for your HUD until the HUD is reattached :(
Ginny Gremlin: borks?
Lethe Naumova: goes pancake shaped
Tateru Nino: Technical term. Breaks in an unusual, but potentially interesting way.
Ginny Gremlin: hehe
Ginny Gremlin: flat pancake?
Tateru Nino: (Or just breaks again the same way, over and over and over and over)
Kamael Xevious: I thought that was a SNAFU?
Tateru Nino: It's getting closer to working. It works most of the time anyway.
Rini Rampal: Bork is the verb. :-p
Tateru Nino: Where most== For a few hours after it was last fixed.
Lethe Naumova: poor Jeska
Ginny Gremlin: yes
Ginny Gremlin: I hear she has to go away for a rest
Tateru Nino: It's been a trial and a tribulation. Especially on a short work week.
<u>Tateru Nino</u>Tateru Nino rummages for item 2.
Tateru Nino: The experiment with measuring Help Island operations last week went very well. LL are still gathering the data, and will hopefully have some results soon. Maybe not in time for next week's meeting, but hopefully in time for the one after.
Lethe Naumova: any trends yet?
Ginny Gremlin: measuring?
Tateru Nino: Not that I've got access to.
Ginny Gremlin: like peak periods?
Tateru Nino: They want to see that Help Island provides a measurable benefit.
Tateru Nino: Jeska knows it does. You all know it does. I know it does. Measuring it is trickier.
RodneyLee Jessop: theer no dought is there....
Ginny Gremlin: just like a scientist
RodneyLee Jessop: the newbies are so smart now
Ginny Gremlin: trying to measure and weight everything
Tateru Nino: Help Island costs time and money. And time costs money too. People who may never set foot in SL will be asked for more funds to expand Help Island. It would be nice to be able to show them a nice graph and say "Ha! See?"
Ginny Gremlin: aha
Tateru Nino: They don't know us, or the residents we handle, or how they work out inworld, except as numbers. So Jeska's looking for numbers that accurately reflect the benefits.
Tateru Nino: Not an easy thing to do.
Ginny Gremlin: no
Ginny Gremlin: something like this is very difficult to measure
Master Quatro: check retention stats with and without it
Tateru Nino: Now...during the test newbies were not given a choice. Half the OI's went to the mainland, and the other half to HI. Normally HI only gets 25% when people are free to choose.
Tateru Nino: So we got 50% instead.
Lethe Naumova: it was a real party
Tateru Nino: I've asked if we can have 65% or 75%. We handled it well. We could have handled more, I think.
Tateru Nino: Basically, by giving half no choice except HI, and giving the other half a choice (and we should get 25% of that half)
Rini Rampal: I hope so. Ideally, we'd have 100% in the future..
Tateru Nino: That is the goal.
Tateru Nino: Everyone is afraid we can't handle it.
Lethe Naumova: we don't have the space at the moment, methinks
Lethe Naumova: 70% will be tight
<u>Lethe Naumova</u>Kamael Xevious nods.
Tateru Nino: That the island will back up and people will be refused TP at the end of OI.
Kamael Xevious: We'd need another sim.
Tateru Nino: Hence expansion. Hence metrics.
Lethe Naumova: indeed, we seem to be getting a touch ahead of ourselves here
Tateru Nino: But we can handle a bit more than the 50% we had. As long as there's no huge rush.
Tateru Nino: In my opinion which may be no better or worse than anyone else's.
RodneyLee Jessop: and some actually leave help Island
Tateru Nino: Any other comments on this topic? Or shall we move on? I've got a nice light agenda today :)
RodneyLee Jessop: sure
RodneyLee Jessop: it seems like several of the New Ones wanna move into HI and are scared to leave....
RodneyLee Jessop: so making it bigger and better is going to add crowding
Tateru Nino: We always get a few of those. They get a bit bored there after two weeks or so.
Lethe Naumova: and often become very very productive mainland citizens
RodneyLee Jessop: I like to see them motvated to continue on
Lethe Naumova: we can suggest, but in the end it's their choice
RodneyLee Jessop: ok
Alisa Honey: I still don’t like the ones that come on all they care bouts weapons and killing
RodneyLee Jessop: true
Ginny Gremlin: there should be a maximum amount of time allowed on HI
Tateru Nino: We can always get a liaison sheriff to mosey them along if they are a problem.
Master Quatro: if the object is increasing retention stats then if HI adds to that .. do it and expand it
Tateru Nino: But about 2 weeks or so is stretching the friendship.
RodneyLee Jessop: or a place that feels safe they can go to
Lethe Naumova: I don't like the idea of setting a time limit
Lethe Naumova: maybe on a case by case basis, but not universally
Rini Rampal: I don't like the limit either. If we get that one-in-a-thousand who wants to spend their entire Second Life on the island, just let'em. As long as they aren't bothering anyone, what's the rush?
Tateru Nino: With HI at one sim, if we want to handle 100% of the intake we need to move people to the mainland after an average of 15 minutes.
Michael Fairplay: We can always get a greeter to go with them if they are a little shy of the mainland
RodneyLee Jessop: one went out today and couldn't get back in... now a time limit to return might be handy
Tateru Nino: We've had trouble with that before, Rod.
Lethe Naumova: no easy answer to /that/ issue
Tateru Nino: People bringing in all sorts of items that don't belong and distributing them.
RodneyLee Jessop: I am think a day or two... only
Lethe Naumova: it's rather frightening how much of a difference it made, when the return bug was active
Ginny Gremlin: yes
Alisa Honey: there was that one person charging people to come from oi to hi that one time
Ginny Gremlin: it was frightening
Tateru Nino: That bug is my next item.
Tateru Nino: Okay. Item 3: That damn bug.
Lethe Naumova: kill it, kill it with /fire/ (fuego?)
Ginny Gremlin: hahaha
Ginny Gremlin: stamp on it
Master Quatro: poor bugger
Tateru Nino: Newbies cannot be teleported to HI unless you're a linden. They're not on the access list. However... they obviously can from HI? How? Because it sends them HOME. And their home is HI.
Tateru Nino: (can from OI, rather)
Tateru Nino: Now, everyone when they leave HI, regardless of destination gets her home set to the place they TP to by an automated piece of software.
Lethe Naumova: is it a script or hardcoded? I didn't know scripts could do that
Ginny Gremlin: is that what is happening?]
Tateru Nino: Hardcoded.
Lethe Naumova: ah
Ginny Gremlin: I've had to reset my home over and over again
Tateru Nino: Some process that accesses the database directly.
Rini Rampal: Funny, it's not changing ine...
Rini Rampal: *mine
Lethe Naumova: voodoo magic
Kamael Xevious: It has mine.
Michael Fairplay: Mine has been changed rather a lot
Tateru Nino: That software failed last weekend. A few newbies currently still have their home set to HI, which will last until they leave again.
Kamael Xevious: Every time I join a group, home is reset to wherever I was when I joined.
Tateru Nino: How much is a few? Around about a thousand, we figure.
Ginny Gremlin: so after leaving HI we should all tp home first?
Ginny Gremlin: and then go elsewhere?
Lethe Naumova: if you don't want to reset your home at least
Tateru Nino: Unless you don't mind your home being reset. It doesn't really bother me much. Home is where the heart is.
Ginny Gremlin: my heart is not in the WA
RodneyLee Jessop: oh that’s what happened... Thanks
Master Quatro: home is where the clients are
Alisa Honey: home is on my island lot easier I’m sick of resetting it
Master Quatro: use a link in your profile / picks
Tateru Nino: Maybe some other solution will be set up. Not sure at this stage. We've still got a thousand odd newbies who will turn up at some point, either dead from gunfire, having gone HOME, or been zapped by security scripts.
Ginny Gremlin: hehe
<u>Ginny Gremlin</u>Lethe Naumova grumbles about security scripts
Ginny Gremlin: I think for the short term solution tping home first
Ginny Gremlin: before going anywhere is an option
Tateru Nino: That would certainly work for us.
Ginny Gremlin: that should work
RodneyLee Jessop: works for me... now I know what happened
Tateru Nino: Next item, and the second last one I have.
Tateru Nino: Just a quick reminder that if anyone asks for the official policy on copyright and trademarks....
Tateru Nino: It is right there. Touch it for a notecard.
Lethe Naumova: any changes?
Tateru Nino: Nothing new, but not everyone has one.
Tateru Nino: And it's a question that keeps cropping up.
<u>Tateru Nino</u>Lethe Naumova trademarks her name and starts mailing cease and desist letters
Tateru Nino: There are 3 of these balls around Help Island, and they do give out a lot of cards.
Tateru Nino: But we still get asked, and not everyone comes through HI.
Tateru Nino: Okay. Last item on my list. Communicators. A two parter, but not long.
Tateru Nino: Firstly. Massive SNAFU with the relay network on help island the other night. Hence the sudden upgrade to 2.8 and the new relay units you see laying around the place.
Tateru Nino: Partly my fault (bug) and partly that Governor Linden owned almost all my relay objects, and I couldn't get in to fix them. Poor Harry dragged around the island with me while I found them all.
Tateru Nino: The second part.
Tateru Nino: I know some of you get very frustrated and annoyed when there are volunteers on HI who are not wearing one. They can't hear the newbies calling for volunteers, and they can't hear you when you need help.
Tateru Nino: They are, however, an optional item, and even though it makes your job harder when other people aren't wearing theirs, they are free to choose that.
Alisa Honey: some them newbies I want to break the fingers off with the call for volunteer alert clicking on them all and making me crazy
Alisa Honey: I got to go round after them to shut them off or they keep spamming me
Tateru Nino: Yes. I put an extra confirmation step in there to try to make sure they knew what they were doing. Of course some people trigger them maliciously too.
Ginny Gremlin: they like to see of they work
Tateru Nino: And some people set them off right next to you because they think you're a bot, not a real person.
<u>Tateru Nino</u>Tateru Nino scared the stripes off one Ruth.
Toy LaFollette: OH!
Toy LaFollette: MY!
Toy LaFollette: GAWD!
Ginny Gremlin: hehe
Tateru Nino: Now. That's everything on my list, and quite frankly, you're probably all tired of listening to me talk :)
Tateru Nino: Anyone have something they would like to bring up?
Alisa Honey: I scared a few with my av representing what we really look like behind the pc lmao
Ginny Gremlin: I loved it
Tateru Nino: That's a great av, Alisa.
Ginny Gremlin: that was really good
Alisa Honey: ty
Ginny Gremlin: especially the green cucumber cream
Mia Koala: aww i missed it
Tateru Nino: I'm sure Ali's good for viewings :)
Michael Fairplay: Tateeru I know the greeters all know this but this morning I compiled a list of landmarks for newbies in case any mentors are interested also
Mia Koala: *giggles*
Alisa Honey: like? lmao
Ginny Gremlin: no I didn't know
Rini Rampal: Can I get a copy, Michael?
Mia Koala: lmao I love that
Ginny Gremlin: do you have a copy you can give us?
Tateru Nino: That was the one you gave me just before, yes?
Kamael Xevious: Can I get a copy, Michael?
Michael Fairplay: Anyone can have a copy that would like one
Michael Fairplay: yes
Ginny Gremlin: I have some now that I give newbies
Alisa Honey: did u check out the lm I gave to u Michael?
Tateru Nino: Hope your mousing arm is in good fettle, dear. Hand them around :)
Mia Koala: me too
Ginny Gremlin: but you might have some better ones
Michael Fairplay: not yet but I plan to check it out
Michael Fairplay: Did everyone get one that wanted it?
Alisa Honey: play sexy lm wooot
Danyla Zapata: ty Michael
Mia Koala: yes ty
Michael Fairplay: You're welcome
Mia Koala: great list!
Tateru Nino: Actually I have a query for the greeters who are taking HI graduates to the mainland....for next meeting perhaps. Have a think about what the Mentors might not be passing on well enough. Are there things the newbies keep asking when you get them there?
RodneyLee Jessop: I would like that list, Thanks
Tateru Nino: Things that we could be teaching them first?
Toy LaFollette: anyone who wasn’t in HI last night missed a great concert hehehe
Alisa Honey: teach them bout money
Toy LaFollette: hell, teach ME about money !!!!!
Kamael Xevious: BTW, if anyone one needs any notecards or info signs proofread, send them my way. I've got professional experience doing it.
Alisa Honey: we need carl’s class notes

Alisa Honey: and someone to put a match under his butt
Alisa Honey: he’s like a zombie teaching
Tateru Nino: Money and real vendors. On my list of things to develop.
Mia Koala: a class on thing like how to unpack things, how to get around, and how to make money
Alisa Honey: how to take a pic and upload
Mia Koala: yes
Mia Koala: how to do there profile
Ginny Gremlin: there is so much stuff
Alisa Honey: how to edit hair and jewellery
<u>Alisa Honey</u>Tateru Nino jots notes.
Alisa Honey: hi
Ginny Gremlin: and it is a lot for them to take in
Mia Koala: i agree
Ginny Gremlin: I give them a folder on SL Basics
Tateru Nino: Have a think through the week, and we'll see if we can identify the top couple items.
Ginny Gremlin: that covers these situations
Ginny Gremlin: and they can refer to it when needed
Tateru Nino: Then we can focus on those and if it works, we'll get the next couple.
Tateru Nino: Anyone else have something to talk about today?
Mia Koala: just wanna ask this......
Psyra Extraordinaire is late. And attacked by RL... <idles to defend himself, brb> :D
Psyra Extraordinaire: (Ack the ground ate me)
Tateru Nino: Go ahead, Mia.
Mia Koala: is it just me or others. when you go to get something from inventory its not there and most folders are empty... I’m constanly having to clean cache out
Ginny Gremlin: it happens but not often
Alisa Honey: same for me
Mia Koala: at least 2 to 3 times a day
Alisa Honey: and some clothes u put them on u see grey and weird patterns where the transparent parts r supposed to be
Ginny Gremlin: wow, that’s often
Mia Koala: yes :(
Tateru Nino: I get that the first time I open my inventory after logging in. I search for FOO, and then lag for 2 minutes or so until my inventory loads from the server. Serious, deadly lag.
<u>Tateru Nino</u>Angelique LaFollette gave you Comments of Concern..
Alisa Honey: i get major packet loss when open my inventory first item and sl freezes
Mia Koala: same here
Mia Koala: ok well its good to know its not just me :P
Tateru Nino: Likewise, Alisa. Once it's all loaded, everything catches up.
<u>Tateru Nino</u>Ginny Gremlin < --- refuses to divulge the size of her inventory
Alisa Honey: anyone know where to get a ugly house dress or what they called mumus?
Mia Koala: hehe
Ginny Gremlin: I got tutu
Ginny Gremlin: but not mumu
RodneyLee Jessop: moo moos
Alisa Honey: for my lady in curlers av:)
RodneyLee Jessop: scaray
Ginny Gremlin: mumu is a type of loose dress from the 70's
RodneyLee Jessop: TY, I'll cherish that one
Tateru Nino: Okay. Formal part of the meeting is closed. Pillowfights and argumentation may ensue.
