Planning to purchase island for educational development

Hello, I am a research assistant working with a University professor and we are interested in purchasing a private island for educational development. Before we make a purchasing decision, I have several questions that I'd like to ask. I am hoping someone here may have the answers.

It seems to me that the islands are randomly generated when we order one based on 1 of the 4 basic designs on the ordering page.

If they are not randomly generated, can we see them before we buy? We'd very much like the opportunity to review our options before we purchase one.

Would it be possible to request starting terraform layouts, meaning, can they/do they offer a custom starting layout?

Is there a difference/does it matter where we are located? (How easy will it be to expand later should we choose to?)

We are in need of a website for the island and we are also wondering if by purchasing land, SL offers any kind of website to advertise our land?

Also, does the "Maturity" option in estate management actually restrict mature content or does it just list an overall rating for the island?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Seraph,
I noticed that no one had answered your question here. You might be better off in posting it down in Resident Answers, which is a general Q&A area. I don't know the answer to your question, having never bought an island, but other people will and can help. :)

If you go to the Support page and click the Knowledge Base link, then search 'Private Region (Island) FAQ,' you'll find some of your answers there.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

1. You can specify which of the four basic layouts you want, or you can send LL a terrain map in RAW format and they will deliver the island to your order.

2. You can locate your island anywhere you like as long as it doesn't adjoin somebody else's (unless they give permission) or the mainland. If you don't like the location, you can have LL relocate it (I think there is a fee for this).

3. LL does not offer a website for your use. However, you can create your OWN website, and give out the URL in a notecard in world, or make note of it in your individual profiles and/or group information.

4. Setting your island to PG does not automatically restrict content. However, Mature content on PG-rated land may be reported to LL and removed by them.
