My avatar has a yellow beaded necklace which i cannot remove.
How did i get it and how is it removed?

Detach

If it is a prim necklace right click it and select "Detach".
It may be a clothing part though. Go to your inventory and type
worn
in the search space. You will see all the things your avatar is wearing. Right click the necklace and select "Detach".
