Hi,

Here is an updated version of the last econ stats info, covering now weeks of 7/1 - 8/15.

We will take comments and keep working on the form of these. I realize that many folks want some better data on land prices ($/meter, etc). We haven't been collecting enough data to know the $/meter prices for land sales in-world (although they can be computed for the auctions as some folks have already done), but will begin collecting this data with version 1.5, so we will soon be able to add $/meter columns, total meters sold, etc.

It would seem that there are more lindens in the economy now than the last report (9 million more, to be exact)

Is that a constant trend, or are you introducing more $$$ into the economy through various controlled means?

We introduce L$ through the various ways you can get currency in SL:

- Stipends (L$500/wk/resident + reputation bonus, etc)

- Event support

- Dwell awards ($24K pool nightly)

- New account creation

- Referral bonuses

Overall this puts money into the economy at a controlled rate relative to the number of residents. Because the rate of growth in both residents and content is high, the economy has not 'inflated' as a result of these increases - the mean amount of L$ per resident has stayed pretty constant over the year, and the value of the L$ has actually increased against the $USD (on GOM).

I tried to do that but changing to text format doesn't work properly with the Excel viewer. If you want a free Excel viewer from MS you can get it here.
