The hearts come in little square boxes that include an animation so that you can wear them. When you touch them, they'll randomly give you one of 24 candy hearts (six colors, with one of 24 sayings on them.) If you Wear the heart, it includes an animation that shows you holding it long enough to read the saying. It then says what the saying is, in open chat so everyone can enjoy it, and then animates you popping it into your mouth, after which it's gone.
You can only eat the heart that one time, so if you want more, you have to get another one!

There are boxes with special sayings to give to your Lover, your Mother, your Dad, your Sister, or your Brother.
Sadly, only you can eat from the box (due to the limitations of the SL Permissions System.) But at only L$100, you can afford to buy your friends their own boxes! (There's a Gift Button on the vendor, for that purpose.)
