The AP Crossfading Picture Viewer is very easy to set up and use. All configuration is handled via menus; there are no notecard settings or chat commands to remember. It can display up to 255 photos or textures. The Viewer allows you to set the interval between images, the color of the frame, and turn the fade effect off and on.
Unlike most other cycling image viewers out there, the AP Crossfading Picture Viewer produces an attractive crossfade effect when swapping images, rather than a jarring, sudden texture change. Even better, it preloads images before displaying them, to give them a chance to rez first. (Depending on your connection, server lag, and the interval you set, the image may not be completely loaded before being displayed. If this happens, try setting a longer interval.)
The AP Crossfading Picture Viewer is lag-consciencious. Timers are necessary to cycle the picture and create the fade effect. During severe server lag, you can turn off the fade effect. Additionally, the viewer scans its surroundings once every 30 seconds and stops cycling if nobody is within 20m (why waste valuable CPU cycles if nobody's there to see it?). It will start cycling again when somebody is nearby (it may take up to 30 seconds to detect an avatar).
Note: YOU MUST HAVE FULL PERMISSIONS (COPY/MOD/TRANSFER) ON EACH PHOTO/TEXTURE OR IT WILL NOT DISPLAY. Any photo snapshot you take in SL and most snapshots given to you by others will have full perms. Additionally, any image you upload yourself will have full perms.
