A peaceful coast at night, everyone's asleep after a hard day tilling the fields, when suddenly, silently through the waters comes a dreaded Dragon Ship.
I'm proud to announce a large, realistic viking longboat for SL. Detailed carvings on the bow and stern set this apart as a ship any viking would be proud to raid in. Full sails provide plenty of speed from a good wind while the gunwales are decorated by the hanging shields of the crew. Details include the steering board in the stern, shields along the sides, ropes for trimming the sails and keeping the mast upright, and intricately carved dragon head on the bow. As is accurate historically, there are no benches for the rowers. They simply sat on chests or whatever was handy.
Comes in two versions. One with just sails, another with sail and full compliments of oars. You can display it with just the sail, without the sail but with full oars, or fully set for speed with oars and sail both.
It's 245 prims with both sail and oars, 221 with oars but no sail, and 158 with sail but no oars. Approximately 32 m stem to bow, and 7 m across the beam, 20 m from sail tip to sail tip.
Because of the size, this is a not moving ship. It's designed to be set permanently in the water. It is not a vehicle. It uses Rezz Faux for easy setup. Just take out the rezzor and place about 10 meter about ground and click to rezz, then move the rezzor to position the boat.
Availiable in at Murdock's Maritimes in Inari and Caledon Cay, and on Slexchange. It can be viewed in the northeast corner of Niflheim.
