Bobcat Bulldozer for Land Terraforming
This bobcat can be used in many ways to do terraforming, that is, to perform the ground moving functions that SL allows.
You can inspect this bulldozer in the south eastern corner of Explorers Rangeland.
Click anywhere (except the blade) to enter into dialog interface with the Bobcat. Click the blade to start mounting the hud.
The bobcat's blade will grow or shrink depending on the area being covered as set by the size menu.
A red laser beam is emitted on to the ground from its centre to show the center of the area being terraformed.
Movement is in one meter increments, and can be aligned "Align 1.0" to the nearest whole metre coordinates when first rezzed. "Align 0.5" will move that alignment by half a metre. Step size is adjustable to 1.3, 2 or 4 M.
Each menu has one "Stop" item so that it can be stopped at anytime no matter what mode it was in.
The "Move" sub menu lets you select driverless operation of the bobcat. "ZigZag" will drive a zig zag pattern covering the complete parcel. "Random10" will give random coverage of a parcel. "One Lane" will travel one lane between your parcel limits.
Bobcat uses the parcel prim count to determine how far it can move. You should not be able to drive it into the next parcel, even it you own it. Rez another bobcat or edit/move to start working on the next parcel, or even to add to the effort of the current parcel.
These are the Action commands::
LEVEL the terrain with each call, raising it up to the Bobcat's required height. If the ground is too hight, it will issue a "Lower" order instead. Make sure you have set the "Required Height" first.
RAISE the terrain with each call, up to the current height of the object's center.
LOWER the terrain with each call, down to zero height.
SMOOTH the terrain.
NOISE randomizes (adds noise to) the terrain.
REVERT terrain to its original state.
Ground terraforming is not an exact science. Not even the Lindens seem to be able to explain how the 256 x 256 grid map is interpolated on parcel boundaries and between the 1 m grid points.
Only $700L in game. Has copy perms so you can rez as many as your land allows.
Overcoming the hud display bug.
Many times the hud display bug in sl will stop the body of the hud displaying itself. While the texts show fine, none of the buttons will show.
What you can do if the buttons don't show:
1. If you only want to display the numbers, everything is there and you can leave it this way.
2. Log out and log in again. The buttons will show perfectly.
3. Find the hud in your inventory. It will be shown as "worn". Detach it and attach it again to "Center 2".
4. Press the bobcat's shovel once, and the hud should disappear. Press the shovel again, and a new hud should appear.
