How could I have not seen it before?
As evidence I present my first mad science project - the Clockwork Widow. It's... Well, it's difficult to adequately describe without lapsing into mad science jargon so...

Mwah hahh hahhhhh! Those fools! The invincible Clockwork Widow is an attachment which is worn on the pelvis, raising you high above the puny doubters who questioned you.
The mighty steam engine and precision gearing power the sculpted spider legs carrying you past any crowd of ignorant rabble or meddling do-gooders.
See, mad science makes everything clearer - if slightly less seemly.
The Clockwork Widow consists of:
* Animated sculpty legs which are controlled by the built in animation overrider. This means that when you walk, they walk. When you stop, they stop. Otherwise it would just be silly science, not mad science at all.
* Custom standing and walking animations and a built in AO to control them.
* Particle steam and a not too intrusive clockwork ticking sound effect.
The Clockwork Widow is 13 prims but is worn not rezed so it doesn't effect property prim counts. Also, since it's worn the Clockwork Widow is a phantom object. This means that despite it's size it won't get stuck on walls, trees, or interfering heros come to meddle in your work.
It's copy and partial mod - you can resize but I keep my mad science scripts to myself - but no transfer and sells for a meager L$300.
If you're curious you can see a model at my brand spanking new shop Madgirl Munro, Ltd. which is located down at the end of the pier - where no one can hear the screams - in Port Babbage:
