A few days ago, I wrote as follows in the Victorian Second Life ning:

From: someone
As if we need reminding, here is a, well, reminder, that life leads us in circles, that we end where we began, and that hats are essentially round in cross-section.

'twas two years back I set out to make the best top hat in SL, and felt I had succeeded. Many may disagree - particularly devotees of the accursed sculptie, new-fangled horror that it is - but hundreds seemed to at least think the article was worth a cool $100.

And now it is even better, and at the same forgiving price; because the new version, known informally as 'The Adjustable' contains one of them fancy new resizing scripts which suit bigheads and littleheads right down to the...

Well, you get the picture.

Now, here's the best part. Anyone who has my old Classic Top Hat and wants my new Classic Top Hat (adjustable), only has to ask, and it is theirs for free. I realise this leaves me open to approximately 1,000 requests, but that's just the kind of impetuously generous man I am.

NB: For historical interest, here is the original catalogue description. Although the item dates from much early times, readers will find that the language is still entirely comprehensible.

From: someone
“A detailed Victorian or Edwardian gentleman's top hat in black satin, with hat band and bows. The reason for the high number of prims and the two bows (instead of a more authentic one) is to create as much space as possible for hair, while maintaining something of an authentic outline. The hat band and the bows give a little extra width to the hat above the ears and at the rear - trouble spots for unwanted hair. I do not promise that this hat will fit all dreadlocks, mohicans and afros, but it will do a good job on most heads with the minimum of enlargement.”
