Darkrose will soon celebrate her second year of continuous storyline in Secondlife.

Many secret conspiracies and plot twists later, the intrepid Court of Darkrose Castle, along with the few villagers who have survived the turmoil, discover the island has shifted once more in time. Still unsettled from the unexpected translocation, the weary denizens of Darkrose welcomed a new ship on the horizon with beacon fires to light the way among the fog. Without warning, cannons blazed from the deck of the small frigate, shattering fragile wooden structures and raining fire down upon the market, merchants and citizens alike ran screaming for the relative safety of the castle as brigands jumped from her gunnels to swim the shallows, a ravenous hunger for the unspoiled riches waiting on the docks glimmering in their eyes. When the raiders had gone and fires were doused, it was clear that Darkrose had not returned to her own time; the island and her occupants would face new challenges in this lost era. A single captive would reveal the island had settled in the year 1642. Pirates. Post renaissance Europe. Pre-industrial age. The court is ill-prepared for the lack of modern convenience. Well, all but the Prince…

Such was the nature of the island; she was anchored in space, but not in time, and the machinations of conspiracy had played themselves out.

Join us for a new chapter in the Saga of Darkrose Island; The Prince, his court, the Ferals of the Abandoned Quarter, the innocent villagers, the hunters of the Church, the lycans of Darkrose forest… the stories are merely awaiting players to realize their potential.

A dark setting, deep immersive background, established factions, interwoven conspiracies, mature themes, freeform roleplay, a unique and unencumbered conflict resolution system, unlimited potential to develop your own unique character within the mythology, and unrestricted storylines offer something found nowhere else in Secondlife.

We invite the mature, serious, dedicated RPer, as well as the completely new and intrigued, to come and experience Darkrose for themselves.

RP workshops are available for those unfamiliar with Roleplay, assistance in development of character and background, and individual attention will be paid to all participants to gain insight to what they desire from their adventures in Darkrose.

I am slightly jostling this post, with the intent that it might fall before the eyes of a few new, and potentially interested players.

Specifically, I search for new kindred to join the court. And new Kindred to oppose the court in the guise of the ferals.

And a lycan blood royal, one that might represent an adversary.

But a caveat.

I seach for intriguing, mature individuals who do not have issues with ego, self-esteem, or insecurity. I search for individuals who can commit to a role, and bring something individual and unique to the story. Someone who can immerse themselves into a characterization, and both suffer the consequences of their actions and reap the rewards of their efforts.

The story has been ongoing for over two years; there is much backstory and many plot threads already turning. It would be a challenge for both the uninitiated, who would have no idea beyond a glassy eyes stare and high ambitions, and an experienced individual who could enjoy the subtle nuances of stories waiting to be completed by those who would take up the gauntlet.

Join us. The right individuals, shall not be disappointed.

Where to begin?
04-02-2008 16:47
Hello there,

I'm very interested in joining an RP game in SL and have wandered around several with my OOC Observe rtag on. There's one thing I'm still trying to figure out: as a new player to your story, where do I fit in?

I mean, I grab the HUD and outfit myself and walk out the door into your sim, and then what? How do I begin to get involved in the RP? I'm very curious about this, and would appreciate some enlightening of my noobishness.

I've years of experience with tabletop rpgs and gaming rpgs, so the concepts are familiar. I'm just unsure about the execution.

Cheers,
W-

where to begin

Hi Warren,
well, you dont require anything special to begin roleplay at Darkrose. We are an immersive freeform invironment and spend the majority of our time on the sim in character. If you have an idea of what kind of character you want to play, or even if you dont, you can certainly begin by introducing yourself and joining in the improvisational play. It would be helpful to you to read the story information and the "history" of the roleplay environment (Darkrose Island) which is available in our archive as you enter the village. This will give you an idea of how to create your character. As far as combat HUDs or things like that, we dont use them. All our combat is emotive - that means that we use text to describe what is going on. In the event of a disagreement in a conflict we have a scripted device called a DRA that is unique to our sim, it acts much like a roll of the dice in table top playing.
If you arent sure what kind of character you want to play, like I mentioned before, just come on over and introduce yourself. There are several experienced players who would love to give you a hand. Many players have started in just that way.
Once you have expressed an interest and begin to play you will be added to the "Guests of Darkrose" group. After about two weeks of involvement, once we get to know you and you get to know us and we both feel it is a good fit you will be added to the group.

Please feel free to contact either myself, Gabriel Solzhenitsyn, or Sara Winger in game for further information and we look forward to having you visit. The Sim runs primarily on EST and we are there in the late afternoon evening.

First Tourney in the Abandoned Arena
04-17-2008 08:15
The Prince of Darkrose will be hosting a tournament this coming Saturday, at 2 pm SLT, inaugurating the arena in the Abandoned Quarter of the island. As this is the first tourney held at this venue, the staff assigned to the task are unfamiliar with procedure; the tournament will be entertaining, if perhaps disorganized.

The format shall be double elimination Prince's favor.

Prizes to be determined at the time of the tourney, however a minimum purse of 2000L has been set in reserve for this event.

For additional information contact Gabriel Solzhenitsyn, or Krsna Hare.

The Island Transition
09-17-2008 10:00
Darkrose Island has recently undergone an unprecedented transition, both in her beauty and in her story. I extend to you, once again, an invitation to all who would be curious for the nature of Darkrose to stop by, and visit, take in her stunning beauty, and be seduced by her hidden charms.

Our RP features a proprietary conflict resolution system, though the bulk of our roleplaying is freeform, incorporating elements of traditional folklore, fiction, and our own Darkrose mythology. Well over 500 documents exist to offer the player background and other sources of information to enhance the experience.

Normal times of activity upon the isle are Eastern Standard (currently Eastern Daylight) Time, though our core group spans the breadth of the continental US, with some in EST, Central, Mountain, and Pacific. Tuesdays are light days, as are most Fridays. Our most active days are Thursday through Monday, with some organized RP on Wednesday, and the bulk of our activities on Saturday evening and off and on Sunday to include Monday evening.

We encourage any mature roleplayer who might be interested in gothic conspiracy, dark themes, strong friendships, deep immersive storylines, a committed core group who will assist and nurture each character’s individual plots, and a unique opportunity to shape the story of one of the longest uninterrupted, richest, and most rewarding venues in SL.

Contact Krsna Hare, Sara Winger, Anatisha Lutrova, Caden Vilis, or myself, Gabriel Solzhenitsyn, Prince of Darkrose with any questions.

A shameless bump to bring this topic to the *shudders slightly* light of day.

My gratitude.

Darkrose has a website!

I had already posted this in the SL resident website forum, but I will append to our own thread as well: Legendsofdarkrose.com is the new online home to read all about our fair island and her many enthralling stories.
