Hello everyone! Just wanted to take a moment to inform new residents, or remind old residents, about SLHA (SL Hockey Association), the original hockey league inside SL.

SLHA Rocks!

We've been going strong now for years inside Second Life. The league is now in its SIXTH season. Established in 2006, the league continues its tradition of challenging and professional game play. SLHA is run entirely by its dedicated members on a volunteer basis, and it's free to play or watch. We have a very organized system with advanced scheduling, detailed and original rules, well-trained refs who are also league players, and more. In 2008, we have a new, Havok-friendly script, detailed and exciting and the finest inside SL. With even more exciting improvements planned for Season 6, you don't want to miss out! It is very user-friendly and equipment is free.

Some of the unique things that SLHA offers are:

-Automated statistics
-Website with forums, complete schedules, history, photos, and much more
-Constantly improving and advanced script for game play
-Free equipment
-Team locker rooms
-Sportscaster coverage
-Rink-side advertising and free store spots for active SLHA players
-Unique social opportunities
-Rules and standards of practice that were completely developed with participation of league members

The league is divided into several divisions.

NORTH AMERICAN: This competitive division consists currently of 5 teams. Many members have been playing since the league inception. Seasons consist of 30 games for each team and playoffs are held at the end of the season. Contact League Commissioner Jack Belvedere for more information.

EUROPEAN: For SL residents who live in the European time zones, SLHA also offers two European teams. The teams play at 10am on Saturdays. Please contact Euro Commissioner August Lusch for detailed information.

CASUAL/ROOKIE DIVISION: For new folks who are not quite feeling ready to go up with the vets, or folks who can only play occasionally, SLHA offers this division. Games are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights at 5pm. Rookie Commish Allan Gudkov can give you a welcome to the league and more information.

We invite EVERYONE to come try it out. You do not have to be a hockey pro or a gaming wiz. WE HAVE DAILY SCRIMMAGES AT 5PM SL TIME on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. These are open to anyone, rookie or vet. During the daily scrimmages, players split evenly into 2 teams and face-off in a casual game. Veterans will help you with the equipment. There's information at the rink-side that will tell you how to join the league for regular game play, or feel free to contact me in game for more information.(Leave me a message if I'm offline). Our website is also an excellent and detailed source of information on how to sign up and get started.

Visit our private class 5 sim, Jericho Hill, where the league is located. There are almost always people around who can help you, and the free equipment is located just inside the landing spot.
