For those unaware I'd like to draw your attention to Acclaim's "Top Secret Project", being organised by David Perry (http://www.videogameteam.com/modcenter/).

It's a collaborative MMOG design project, and they've just opened up a competition for developers with a $100,000 prize.

I was thinking that this would be an interesting project for the SL game community. Of course SL could never be the final platform, but it could be a good rapid prototyping platform. Or at the very least it could be something fun to have a go at.

The current design document can be found at: http://www.videogameteam.com/wiki/index.php?title=Design_Doc_Sept_2007

...and if you check the design forums there's a lot of good concept art/3D models

--------------------

The basic concept is that it will be a racing game, but where the players race various 'mounts' (think Panthers, Wolves, Geckos, Rams, Pandas etc.). The mounts develop through experience and players can breed them to later stats. During races players will have weapons to attack each other and mount-specific special abilities. Reminds me a bit of S.C.A.R.S. on the PlayStation, but anyway that's what they came up with.

--------------------

So in SL there are plenty of people skilled at making animated vehicles, or maybe it could be a 2-player version with a 'furry' AV with appropriate AOs as the mount and a rider for shooting, or just dummy riders...

If you're interested in getting something happening in SL then post here, or if you're just interested in the project then sign up to the Top Secret forums and give some input.

The whole gist of their project is based around Anime styled Riding Mounts for a 'Racing Game' (i.e lizards, dragons, the usual run of the mill) they nixed the millipede idea due to limitations.

I was 'flatly' disappointed after signing up to their cackaphony of a forum, being told I would be sent more information.

waited waited , no response. go to their forum again and my initial greeting post is gone, deleted, nowhere in sight.

I thought it would be fun to atleast get some of the existing ideas out there in a gaming community, but realized that I also have my own ideas and bottomline to lookout for and NO time to worry about their disarray of communications.

Yes they had one post on Using Secondlife as a workgroups type setup to brainstorm or something to that effect, and ofcourse SL was shot down immediately.

I signed up long ago for it. Never heard anything back. Lost interest.

If their censorship of chat & names is as heavy & bizzarre as one of their other MMO's I've played (or at least 'did play'), I'll have to pass.
