Making Money
05-23-2005 03:29
Hi
![]() Well there are a few ways that you can persue to make money. One is work at a club as a dancer or DJ. I assume being a dancer would be sorta fun... but DJ'ing .. you'd need to have money to do this anyhow, as you must pay for the server. Anyhow... let me get into the best way to make money... learn how to create something.. and sell it. ![]() That's the easiest way and best way to make money. ![]() ![]() _____________________

I kept stealing this guy's lunch money. For some reason he died of starvation, so I'm poor now.

There are many radio stations hiring DJs. Roadhouse Rawk where I work is hiring.
Just go to the website and under Rawk Radio click DJ Application. Fill that out and Lecktor Hannibal will contact you. Other ways to make money are to make something that people want to buy and sell your creation. To get by inbetween attend events and win money playing trivia, Tringo or other type contest. Some clubs have money balls that randomly give out small amounts of money and/or raffles. Also for a new person you can go to a money tree and pick money or fruit off the trees. There is also GOM, IGE, or AnsheChung.com that sell Lindens for about $4.00 US dollars per 1000 Lindens. The prices changes daily according to demand. _____________________

This is off-topic for this forum, but I think it's better to answer new player questions wherever they come up. If Jeska or someone wants to move the thread, of course, that's their perogative.
I hope to have my Flying Ice Cream Truck finished this week. This will be an item freely available to new players which you can fly around in and sell ice cream from, for small quantities of L$. The new player gets to keep the proceeds. I figured it would be a fun way to meet people and show off your business and social skills, if you're looking for some other kind of work eventually, or, if you just need a few L$ each week to get by, this could easily provide it. It's more constructive than flying around looking for Money Trees, or "carving gnomes" (though that's an amusing idea). Most of the pieces of the truck are now working, I just need to finish painting the truck and editing the music loops. To clarify the allowance situation: Basic account members, who pay a 1 time fee, get L$50/week (but must log in at least once per week to collect). Premium account members, who pay US$9.95/month, get L$500/week, whether they log in or not. I've never needed more than what my premium account provides, though I do sell Asian clothing and housewares at Neko's Asian Imports, Minoru Studio Design & Market, Tipsico (116,40), mostly for fun and to increase the variety of clothing available in SL. My prices are friendly to new players. Good luck in Second Life, neko _____________________

well im sorry to interject, but rather then start an new thread, im new here thread as well so i figured i would use this one.
I am also interested in earning money here. but on a large scale. i love the way the game is played and allows people to excell at their talents I own a business and am an entreprenuer in real life, but my limitations for creating virtual ideas are far less then in real life on this game i would like to try my hand at several large scale operations im not rich but I could pay out of pocket to make some of these ambitious ideas a reality how would i go about meeting like minded people all the events i have attended had a lot of sex and sensuality (not that I mind, i had fun, and would prolly have mature themed concepts) or gambling. where would i go to meet like minded people in game? is there like a yellow pages in game to find specific types of interests and such? if not, that is the kind of ambitious project i would like to tackle any help to a noob migrating here from the very childish abuseful world of runescape and their ungrateful owners would be greatly appreciated ps ive googled for hours and my eyes are blurry between trying to figure out the game, the interface, the society, the protocols, the street value of products and services, how to build stuff, trying to start learning scripting when my only background is self taught html 4, and reading many interesting articles mind you, but none seem to address some of the finer points a noob like me would be advised to learn quickly for reasons i wont go in here, i cant play as often as i can use the internet to research, and i honestly have never found anything saying "hi your a newb, here is a street skills guide to second life" not even the official tuturial information presented on the website or in game directed at anything for beginers besides basic interaction instructions i will be attending welcome meetings and instruction events but thus far time has not permitted more then some basic exploration and interaction _____________________

Find links to them here: https://secondlife.com/support/wiki.php There are many helpful FAQs and articles on the game in general, as well as the scripting language. For street value of goods, you might look at SLexchange.com and see what kinds of prices different objects are fetching. As far as the society goes, only playing in-world is really likely to help you. I would recommend that you start by looking at different groups and finding some that suit you. There are business-oriented groups in SL. Also, find some large projects that you are impressed by and chat with their creators. Perhaps they will have suggestions for you. They may have new projects you could be a part of before striking off on your own. I believe starting a large project in SL is no different than starting one in RL. Observe until you see a need, make a plan, find others to help implement (or even help develop) your plan, then work hard to accomplish your goals using your plan. All of the same skills are required as in RL: excellent organizational, communication, and personal skills. Good luck, neko _____________________

All of the same skills are required as in RL: excellent organizational, communication, and personal skills. Good luck, neko Thank you very much. When I decided to leave that dreaded other game, i went to mmorpg.com to see what else was out there. I was kinda burnt out spending weeks getting another level so i could make or wear stronger armour and such. I was in the mood for something different. Even though users didnt rate second life very high there, the reviews really got me curious when they spelled out the specifics such as how open ended the game was. I had frankly killed enough dragons and ogres (and grew tired of spoiled punkass children), so this seemed like a great alternative. Hence, here I am. Which leads me to your quote, how similar this is to rl in terms of going about things. I wasnt only referring to street prices either, I also kind of meant street ettiquette. But anyway, my goals in this game seem like I will want to be an ambitious entreprenuer, after i get the basics down that is. Your advice seems perfect, and reflects all of the good things I have heard in my research into the game about the community here. Hope to see you around. _____________________

hello all im new to the game and new to this forum so if this post is in the wrong thread please forgive, what i want to know is how does one make money in the game? is there jobs somewhere or something? im a Sims player and in the sims u have jobs or you can make things to get money, was wondering if theres anything like this Second life? If by sims you mean TSO and are used to paying $10 a month for a game then it's well worth it to contine paying that much for this one. ![]() ![]() There were a few player ran places that had the TSO equivalent of earning money but I've no clue if they are still around...however there is no second life "MOMI generated limitless pool" equivalent. If you get a "job" job you will be paid by another player and not Linden Labs...unless you go the educational/teacher route. ![]() From what I've seen most people seem to earn money by finding something they enjoy. Whether that's creating quirky hats, prim shoes, designing clothes, making poses, creating airplanes or dancing in a club. The successful ones seem to like what they are doing. ![]() They also invest a lot of time in learning to do those things well. I sold off all my TSO stuff, used 10% of the profits to buy money here & easily live off that and my stipend until I find what it is I love.. and can do well. So really, a job isn't a necessity. We are blessed in that our avatars don't need toilets & beds & fridges that need filling with money. Although my avatar seems to think she has a "need" for girly hair and mass quantities of shoes. ![]() -Sun (gosh I'm not even sure I answered your question, but on no sleep I'm too lazy to even delete this...submit is easier!) <grins> (editted to say: Holy crap do I use too many smilies! ![]() |

Any new player that is interested in help may IM me in game, and when I log in I will answer any questions you have, and help you find your way around the game, and give you some hints on how to make money. I'm a new-er player myself, but I love to help people, and don;t mind making new friends.
At the moment, I have just opened a clothing store, and I also work at a club (Dragonfly Oasis) as a dancer. However, the club I work at is NOT a sex club at all - it's just a general hang out sort of club. Feel free to IM me in game ![]() _____________________

how to make money?
05-24-2005 16:17
your post was very helpful thank you lol, yeah i think money wise this game is more worth it than TSO, i mean if i choose to i can pay 9.95 one time and be in the game forever, with TSO you have to pay 9.95 a month all the time i never even play it anymore so its not worth it to me. i enjoy dressing up my avatar and buying mass amounts of hair, shoes etc so thats what i'd need money for. the thing with TSO is i can easily pop over to someones House and make pizzas and earn a few thousand, in this game there is nowhere to go to do that and so far it seems like everyone is doing there own thing then again i have only been in the game for a few days so what do i know? LOL

I was initially going to buy and sell land like so many other people but the gaming area spoke out to me. I have had to put some money into it, but it is a very nice place now. how would i go about meeting like minded people The forums are a great start, and you can spend a lifetimes worth of research digging through them all. Maybe your looking for the Land and Economy Forum Or maybe you just need to hire some folks using the Employment and Help Wanted Forums You could also muse around in the General Forum, even if you can't find like minded folks there, it won't take long to figure out who to stay away from ![]() I like the idea of a newbie handbook or "street guide"... maybe I'll start on one when the Game Dev contest is over. p.s. all those who think this thread should be moved, raise your virtual hands ![]() |

The only way people have found so far to make massive amounts of money is through buying and selling land. Maybe you could come up with something revolutionary?
