SLHA Hockey Association: Inviting Rookies for Season 7!

SLHA (SL Hockey Association) is now preparing for its SEVENTH season. Established in 2006, the league continues its tradition of challenging and professional game play. SLHA is run entirely by its dedicated members on a volunteer basis. We developed our own unique script and rules (where in RL could you see penalties for being in the goalie crease or for flying?) and all through member contributions! Through our years in existence, we have seen an amazing evolution in game play and long-lasting friendships, and YOU are invited to join in on the fun! Equipment & membership is FREE.

In 2008, we have a new, Havok-friendly script, realistic, detailed, exciting and the finest team sport inside SL. We have a brand new, beautiful rink with places to explore, on a private Class 5 sim. Our Sunday games are televised on SLCN, so if you want to check out the action, visit their website. Announcers Kert Upshaw and August Lusch provide fantastic play-by-play live.

WE ARE SEEKING ROOKIES! You do not need to have RL hockey experience. Anyone who enjoys a fast-paced team sport is welcome to join! Season 7 begins in January and we are looking for dedicated new rookies to join the competition. Stop on by the rink on weekends between 12-3, or Wednesdays from 4:30-6 and learn more about our rookie opportunities. The scripting allows for easy-to-learn game play, with simple controls; yet challenging enough to provide for the most realistic hockey game in SL you could imagine. The SLHA members are available ANY time also to help you.

Season 7 is scheduled to start in January. In the meantime, we will continue to provide training, daily scrimmages open to anyone at 5pm, and don't be surprised if random scrimmages break out day or night. In the scrimmages, which is the best way to learn, our longtime vets will be on hand and focusing on rookie training-as-you-go in a non-threatening and friendly setting. People are also welcome to stop on by and just watch the fun. You will get a kick out of our unique and realistic animations (Who was that that just went face-down on the ice?? Did you see that glass shatter?!?) and enjoy a fast-paced enthusiasm you won't find anywhere else in SL.

We offer 3 divisions of play:

NORTH AMERICAN (5 teams)
Commissioner: Jack Belvedere
Teams: Cobras, Ice Lords, Moose, Whales, and Wolves
Game Times: 6-8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1-3 on Saturdays and Sundays

EUROPEAN (3 teams)
Commissioner: Tuvok Dingson and Kacey Rossini
Teams: Foxes, Ravens, The Storm
Game Times: Weekends at 11am

FARM DIVISION (2 teams)

Our league is also run by its members. League members are managers of Events, Finance, All-Stars, Drafting, Rookies, Equipment and more, with team captains being voted in by their team each season. Persons who enjoy the league and wish to get more involved are welcome to step up!

We have welcomed quite a few rookies into the league so far with our pre-Season 7 promotion, but there's plenty of room for more! The draft will take place 12/14. If we have more rookies come over the holidays we will hold a second draft prior to the start of the season 1/4/09. As always, at any time (even mid-season) you are welcome to join up! So please come on by the rink at Jericho Hill, or leave me a note-card in game and I will get back to you with more information.

Season 7 starts this coming weekend, but it's never too late to join. Stop by the rink at 5pm on Monday, Wednesday or Friday and talk to me, LauraAnne Sheridan, Dicky Donardson or any SLHA member about getting started. We have two farm teams, the Crocs and the Eagles, for new players and will give you the equipment and guidance you need to get started.
