My latest game is called Safe Cracker. On the safe there is a keypad of numbers 1 through 0. Each game the player has a certain number of rounds to guess the code that opens the safe. When one of the numbers in the guess is correct, it will light up green above that number, when it is wrong it lights up red.

Configurable Options:
Set the price players pay to play
Set the amount the player wins if they guess the right code
Set the number of guesses... the lower the number of guesses the harder the game
Set the percentage of the game price that goes into the pot

Please come check it out at...

Thanks Kain, I guess I'll wait for word from LL then, it would be nice if they posted exact rules on this. I do not understand how Safe Cracker type games would be considered gambling, but then games like Zyngo are perfectly legal?

Per the Anti-Gambling policy provided by Linden Labs....

3. What kind of wagering games are affected?

The policy applies to gambling games which:

(1) (a) rely on chance or random number generation to determine a winner, OR (b) rely on the outcome of real-life organized sporting events,

AND

(2) provide a payout in

(a) Linden Dollars, OR

(b) any real-world currency or thing of value.

So according to Linden Labs own policy, a game is illegal if it meets 1 AND 2.... Safe Cracker does NOT rely on any random number generation to determine a winner, the winner is determined by the player guessing the code of the safe. Therefore under this policy Safe Cracker should be 100% legal.

well i guess it also depends how the code of the safe is generated per play.
if the code is the same each game.. and your waiting for someone to crack it to win... then im not sure..

however if you generate a different code for each play. then you must be using a number generator of some sort.

btw dont get me wrong.. im not fighting you on the concept. im just looking to see that you caught everything before release. your name in gaming is important and you dont wanna start it off or make a bad impression on it with a game that may be returned to owners who purchase it.

the negitive thing is.. lindens wont "review" games anymore. they are leaving it up to the creators of the games to make the right choices.

mabey you might wanna add some skill challenge that allows the player to "hack" the safe to remove wrong numbers..by playing a side mini game or something.. that would help

Interesting a keypad with numbers 1 through 0, that leaves two buttons, '0' and '1', plus the enter button I presume as well.

I think Zyngo Random the numbers that come out every round, because the rounds are never the same....so the question still up. Why Zyngo is Legal and game like Safe Cracker not ?

im not against his game. i just advised him to be careful
now to answer your question

Guessing random numbers in hopes for a win would most likely be considered gambling

having random numbers show. identifying if they are on the board. along with skillfully placing wildcards are considered along the lines of skill. thats what the difference would be

I would say, if each round the player gets to guess the secret code... and while he's keying in say a 4 digit number the other players get to watch, the other players LEARN what is working and what isn't working (GREEN numbers and RED numbers). Therefore, there is definitely skill involved in solving the initially created random number.

Something that might help, is to allow players to block the view of other players somehow when they are pressing one digit. Sort of like a wildcard safety measure... but every player would have to have one or it could be chalked up to CHANCE. Then players would have to figure out when it would be best appropriate to use this COVER.

I think they just want you to not build a bunch of slot machines and roulette tables! They want the players interacting and challenging each other.
