can a avatar be scripted to catch and throw a ball? and can a goal be scripted to register a score? I think it would be cool to have some kind of team sport in 2L. like "flying football" or something like that....maybe two teams of 4 with matching team uniforms....and stuff

I've already done something quite similar with my tron'esque discus game... It's possible... only real problem is that you can't run as fast in SL as you can in the real world, so the field would have to be done on a smaller scale... A smaller scale would also allow you to see the ball better due to culling distances and whatnot...
I happen to not like sports, but if anyone has a sim they want to do this in, i'll program it for a fee... And anyone who's seen the game i make knows that i can damned good and the scripts i do also cause minimal lag... I can even have it automatically keep score.
I also can adapt principals i've already come up with for baseball, soccer and other such sports if anyone has a sim they want to devote to it...

From: Zaid Vox can a avatar be scripted to catch and throw a ball? Yes. From: Zaid Vox and can a goal be scripted to register a score? Yes. From: Zaid Vox I think it would be cool to have some kind of team sport in 2L. like "flying football" or something like that....maybe two teams of 4 with matching team uniforms....and stuff There are games in SL that do have those features that could be modded, or you could do the same thing from scratch and make it into football. But having a scripted game like that presents an issue that I keep running up against with another game I'm working on.... Not lagging the field with either A.) too many players running the play script or B.) the goal lagging when scoring is made, C.) both. I'm working on a 1024 plot of land. On larger land, it depends on the scripts running around you. In games like that, it's better not to have bling and a ton of scripting on your avies.

Football for example if you're using a huge field, adjust the physics so The ball can't be thrown out of (clear) vision range. Which would affect the game in general. As for running, can do it with a script (even if added into the scripting to play) to make the players run faster, but that might cause lag on levels that people will not play. :/ Also tweaking it to a point where people aren't going so fast that they lose control when they do and don't lag, would always be up for debate. Too fast for one person, too slow for another.... etc...

Yes you can do all of that and I have done it. There where some things to work through but I did it.
