Poker Players Wanted

Well, after being on SL for awhile I have discovered the places to play. I have also formed a GROUP called Poker Techs. You can find it by doing a GROUP search. Please read the Charter. If you are a very new player I suggest that you wait awhile and improve your skills before requesting membership. If you think poker is like blackjack or craps, please please find a group dedicated to gambling and pass Poker Techs by.

If you are new to SL and looking for a games here is a list of some of the major locations:

Myths (high traffic)
Four Dueces (medium traffic)
Montanas Poker (medium traffic)
Scores Poker (low to medium traffic)
Sioles Poker (medium traffic)
Aces High Casino (low traffic)
House of Aces (low traffic)

All are nice locations (by no means the only ones) and the traffic is subject to change depending on games/tournaments offered and on going promotions. All offer free group membership so you can be notified of games. Another group to join thats open registration is the VGA POKER GROUP. Run by Easy Wheeling, its a place where games and tourneys are announced that are played on the high quailty VGA poker tables. The best tables at the moment in SL, IMO. Easy also sells these quality tables for casino and private use. If you like tournament play you may also want to become a member of the group "poker tournament addicts". There are many other groups around that are good. Just search for poker under the GROUPS headings.

If you are a High Stakes player (50/100 and up or 10K buy-in tourneys and up) please feel free to IM me in world and I will direct you to someone who will be able to set you up with a game.

A personal note: I am an independent entity and am not directly affiliated with any one poker room in SL. I go where the games are. I will be happy to help anyone in SL who would like information regarding this wonderful game. PS, you do not have to be a member of Poker Techs to ask me questions.

Hey, I just bought a sim and am planning on putting a holdem table on it. I'll post an update here when it's up and going. Owners of the new VGA Texas Hold'em 2.0© tables can see me to be promoted to officers in the "VGA Poker Group". They can then use the group channel to announce openings, or published events. (we don't want too much spam driving the members away...)

I'd also like to add that the group Poker Players is available to announce events in-world. There are currently no restrictions as to which place can announce their tournaments and/or cash games.

I found Scores to be virtually lag free, and I really enjoy playing there. Met some cool peeps, and won some lindt( mind you i lost some too!) but its a cool place, i recommend checking it out.

Hey put me down on that list. I also have a texas hold'em table at my house and would host a game once in awhile. If there is a group of peeps interested in hosting games and want to rotate locations let me know. Kind of like a rl poker group i'm in now.

I've yet to find a decent place hosting large tournaments of 100+ people yet. I have alot of interest in those. Especially if it's limited to top 3 positions as payout.

Neither have I. As SL doesnt lend itself right now to large MTT's. All the tables are designed for cash or single table SnG's.

Good luck on finding a tourney anywhere/anyworld with 100+ players paying only the top three.

I tried playing poker, but I found it was way too slow. Does anyone know why? I wasnt exactly sure what caused the extreme lag-just LL's fault or the residents acting slow, or both.

Poker in SL is a slow proposition at the best of times. Normally, you have to judge the relative speed of the action by some standard that you are familiar with. If its normally a fast sim, and everything else seems to be going at speed, its probably the players. One of the best indicators to me is how fast the cards appear on my HUD. If they pop up quick and the 'VGA TABLE whispers' pop up fast then I know the sim is probably not the choke point.

Is the only thing around this Texas Hold'em (up) crap? Any 5 card draw around?

I thought I saw one at myths poker Room a few months ago. Then it disappeared. I might be wrong though. If you find any Stud or Omaha be sure to let me know.

Guess I will have to write them myself for my casino.

I would love to have a place to go play some poker , spend a bit of money, but every place I have gone to is filled with people betting and raising 1000's

But I guess the rake isn't good enough for these places if people only want like a 100 max bet..
