RP and Combat Info.

On a personal side, I will be interested in checking out some different RP communities to see what all is out there and thier styles.

In general, I am researching how RP Sims are handling combat and conflictive RP in thier Sims. I am new to SL, and have run into the usual problem of walking into RP sims that are empty, and not knowing how to approach people. I know that some are casual while others are very serious. What I am wondering is how you handle conflictive RP. Do the leaders create scenerios for players to work around? Make up the conflictive element? Do players choose between playing good guys and bad guys? Do Sims war against each other? If so, how?

I am a 15 year text based RPer and have played MMOs off and on over the past 20 years. As I said I am new to SL, but I see the opportunity to have the best of both worlds. I would love to talk to some folks on this subject, whether it be players, RPers or Sim owners.

what sort of RP are you interested in? i can tell you my 3 favourite medieval ones

Avillion, Everwind and Aglarond. there are always people there willing to help, avillion is very light RP the other two are heavier

but you might be more into space, western, Gor or other RP's and i can't really help there, even tho i live next door to a western sim

now it also depends on your character with how you approach people, usually if there's a group just walk right on in, the people in avilion will probably just call you by your first name, where as the otehr two sims you'd get something along the lines of */me looks the human up and down "what you looking at pink skin?"* of course i only mean it in fun *mutters something about filthy humans*

anyway have a look around in search, find places that have a high people count and just get in there and ask questions, it's just like everywhere else, most people love to help, others are just ... well ...pricks hah

I have ducked into Aglarond a few times, but haven't had a whole lot ot time to try any others. Medeival/fantasy is my favorite too.
