Me and a few friends were talking about how cool it would be for someone to actually make a roleplay based on a Sengoku-Periodish version of Fuedal Japan. There would be Samurai, Ninja, Geishas, Brigands, various merchants, and Daimyo that act like admins for each city/sim.
Anyone care to give some feedback?

Sorry to double post but just thought id let everyone know that we are going ahead with the plan to make a Roleplay based on Fuedal Japan. Details are subject to change but here is the basis:
-First sim to be named Edo and will be run as the City of Edo.
-Strict Caste System including Royalty, Nobles, Peasents, and Servants that will provide the friction needed to push roleplay without huge amounts of combat.
-Edo Castle and its grounds to be restricted to noblity also in an effort to create friction to generate roleplay.
-Admin rules sim as Daimyo
-A huge amount of classes are planned: Daimyo, Court Member, Samurai, Priest/Priestess, Geisha, Ninja/Kunoichi, Mercenary, Swordsmen/Swordswoman, servant (not a slave), Yakuza, Theif, Musician, Scribe, and many more.
-New forms of entertainment in roleplay being planned, these include: Restaurant, Kabuki/Noh Theater, staged events, communal and gender specific bath houses, bar, and many others planned.
-New Roleplay genre leaves it open for a highly developing story and for the entrance of other sim/cities besides Edo.
-Created not as an individual effort but with the collaboration of a large and growing group of people.
-Membership in the Royal Family and other benefits to those who contribute greatly to the creation of this Roleplay Sim.
If you are interested in joining the Japanes Roleplay Development Group please contact Hitomi Taiko or Seika Hayashi for an invite. Sengoku Rising and it all begins in Edo Japan

very interesting, is there going to be a scripted portion to this rpg or will be all be roleplaying without skill? ("i stabbie you in the neck" "nu-uh i stabbied you first!" i can provide some scripting for combat/item's/class/artificial money systems, if you'd like.

If you really believe that not including a scripted component in roleplay means it's "without skill" then I'm very sorry you've had such bad roleplaying experiences..

I've scripted a nice traditional-looking goban, that works and so forth. The prototype is oversize, but i'll build it into a proper-sized piece that can be picked up and brandished as a weapon by a samurai, should he be ambushed by his enemies while visiting his mistress.

hola, My friends and I had planned on creating a system based off of the Table Top Role Playing Game and Collectable Card Game, Legend of the Five Rings. It has been put on the back burner due to funding and general lack of knowledge of the setting. It falls in line perfectly with what the original poster wants and what Hitomi Taiko is going for. Based off their name I can only assume their already familiar with the setting or derived it from a popular japanese family name. Either way Legend of the Five RIngs is a fuedal samurai setting steeped in several fuedal oriental cultures with japan predominating all other influences as well as a strong fantasy feel with Oni (demons), Magic based of the five elements traditional to Japan, Dragons of the oriental variety. It has it all a celestial order, reincarnation, honor, bushido, clans, an emperor, Daimyos, Samurai, monks and much much more including a very rich political setting. Just thought I'd throw it out there. My group of friends wanted to put this out there into SL as it is an excellent medium for it but we'd need help. Just something to chew on. Go here for more info or do a search in google for it. http://www.l5r.com

Rather than re-invent the wheel again, why not just use the samurai island combat system? It's ok as combat systemss go.

If you want a combat system you should use Samurai Islands Combat System, but if you really want I will be able to sort you out a Free Health System and give you all you need to script compatible weapons, heck, I would even script compatible weapons for you, I like this RP idea, sounds intresting, I am deffinately intrested!

I thought there already was samurai RP at anault hill, i think thats the name of the sim, but i know a couple of people who are into that. I'm not sure how far the RP goes, like...if its as involved as say...star wars RP or medieval RP that's around...but I know there's a market for it

Hi Hitomi and Seika I wold love to find out more about your community on Joukai island. I'm not always easy to contact, and my profile will explain why that is (I'm very happy and not complaining). I have sent friend's adds to both of you. Looking forward to talking. I'm very interested in feudal Japan. Seika, I' Anna

The original plan to buy an island was abandoned in late 2006 after the island tier increase; they planned to move to mainland but couldn't afford it. Several investors (myself included) lost money as a result.
