Hey all,

Recently I've been interested in getting involved in SL combat for a goof, and was pretty awestruck by the sheer amount of combat systems out there, from the generic Linden one, to CCS, Omega, etc. There's a bunch.

I'm trying to figure out what the best supported and most popular one is out there, because some of the weapons and gear seem to only be compatible with specific systems, so the last thing I want is to dump a bunch of lindens on some gear only to discover that I picked a system that has 3 people using it.

If any of you have any advice of the best systems (and sims) that use them, I'd be really appreciative.

All the best,

-Trent

I'd have to say there is a pretty big community revolving around just the plain linden one.

heyas;

first, find out where you are going to be roleplaying and/or fighting. then, find out what system they use. and THEN drop loot on weapons ;)

if you just want to fight with melee weapons (sometimes bows), check out the united warriors group. every sunday they have a huge tournament, and usually they give out free weapons and huds for it. i have only seen them do dcs and i think spellfire, however. (or only dcs.)

this is a pretty good way to try out fighting and see if you like it, without spending anything.

Roleplay (Coming soon) http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dark%20Ecstasies/75/201/725

I would like to submit that one of the best SL "Safezone" combat system I've seen is the Mech Combat (And soon to be Person to Person Combat System) found in the BTCM Universe. Dynamic, diverse, and engaging - there is nothing out there quite like it! And with the wild sucess of their mecha combat SIM, they've decided to expand into the Person-to-Person realm by introducing an upcoming roleplay sim that uses the same amazing scripting for their Mech sim.

BTCM is a comprehensive Roleplay System which allows for Mech Warriors to pilot the Mech of thier choice in full combat situations, either as a solo pilot or in a player made clan. Additionally there is a sim which also has a combat system for the pilots to enrich thier characters background story and history. There are several classes available to the pilots, as well as armor, weapon and accessory choices.

This is the first multi-comprehensive set of SIMs which are dedicated and built exclusively for both the pilots and the mechs. So whether you are a Roleplayer at heart, or a cold metal machine, we got you covered.

MECHS: There are over 2 dozen mechs in different styles. You might recognize some mechs inspired by Mech Warriors, Battle Tech, Steel Battalion, and some purely from imagination. Additionally pairing up your mech with dozens of different weapons will give your mech different effectiveness for damage dealing, sniping, mobility or specializations.

CLANS: The clans are player run and administered. There are over a dozen clans currently which battle for supremacy in the galaxy. The clans battle for planets, ally, and backstab each other in battle every Wednesday (5:00 PM SLT) and Saturday (3:00 PM SLT)

ROLEPLAY: Creating a rich background and history for your character with other characters is the name of the game here. Roleplay can start or end with combat or not include it at all. Your story is as brief or long as you want it to be, and is only limited by the imagination and time you put into it. The sim dedicated to this is built in a sci fi and futuristic era, as well as all the weapons and armor which give you extra abilities or strengths.

Agreeing with Sahar in the fact MCM is an awesome combat system, but you can't make weapons for it. You can customize the mech's appearance though, and it's pretty fun ^_^

However, one of the best ones I find is Warps. It's designed for both mass player and group combats, as well as one on one, and you can tailor the engine to your liking it's pretty fun and it's fairly easy to use. We use it at out Warhammer 40k sim, so if you want to check it out in action, bring a few buddies and head over to the Porter Islands.

Combat Evolution is the best combat system in SL that does not use guns, and has a massive community of fighters who are all connected through a website that keeps track of stats. You can also register your fight club with the website, and have it listed for players to go and check out.
