HUD Game? Possible?? (scriper needed!)

I thought of this game that if it were possible to play thru your HUD display...you could play while exploring SL and not have to be stuck in front of something or sitting in a camping chair all day.

I've tried to learn scripting myself but its just wayy too over my head! So if there's someone that could take on this task...I'd be happy to work with them to make this happen!!

Things I think would be included in the HUD game...

* It would be multiplayer (you vs 5 other players)
* There'd be a count down timer
* Players pay into a pot and pot pays out to winner at end of round

On the HUD display...there would be game stats, player stats, and round stats (interactive buttons)

If interested...contact me!
-THANKS

Maybe he is willing to pay well? Do you have any usefelness at all or just belittling newbies because they are the only targets you can handle?
I suppose you think the Game HUDs inworld are all the best you will ever get and we don't need any newfangled ideas? LOL! :P

Oh there already IS something like this? Then i might better quit working on my one ;)

@Barnum: It took me 2 months to get my HUD game to alpha status. One reason is I'm no professional coder, the other (the main one) is, that LSL really sucks. Coding on a Commodore C64 was way more comfortable and effective than this :(

So it's quite hard to make an idea work and to make it work safe. When you're investing a more or less vague idea and the coder invests weeks or months of coding, your share in the - potential - profit would be rather small. At least I wont be willing to give you too much if your only contribution was "I've got the idea of implementing that well-known strategy game as a HUD-game in SL" and mine was weeks of fighting with the impossibilities, bugs, nonsense delays (and so on) of LSL :)

The major weakness with this idea is that I believe it would still rely on a central "hub" to run commands to and from, which means that people are still tethered to shouting distance as a maximum area they can wander.

Im stating this idea in general form so there's no possibility of it getting stolen (its simple and I'll go into wayy more detail when and if I get someone wanting to script it for me)

I'd be willing to pay someone $US or $L's for their time, but I don't know the "going rate" so it'd probably be according to my comfort level and/or the scripters hard work.

I hadnt even thought of the commands having to communicate between things (hence my unexperience in LSL) so maybe having something where people would sit down and play would be better!?

Anyways, thanks for the comments!!

The comms weakness would depend on how you set it up... If you wanted to go all out, you could setup something on a RL server that would communicate with the HUDs across the grid, organize them out, even setup matches. A 'slightly' simpler way would be to just use a LSL server inworld to setup matches, with a bit of RL web code to put the LSL server, so even if the server changes keys, that code can be updated, and the HUD units won't notice it (unless they're trying to access it right at that moment in time). Or you could set it up with the central HUB to match up players where they'd need to be within shouting distance. Just my random, late night, two copper coins.

You're welcome. ^.^

Oh, and be careful when using functions like llSetPos with the HUD, because in my experience at least, its been hit and miss with certain uses. So anything you're working with (of course), save copies as you do it, heh.

i've already got a HUD system like this, my problem is i dont have the texturing experience or the time to put out games and applications for it so for now it is simply a textured click-thru operating system and a simple card game (higher/lower) anyways PM me if you would like to toy with the demo

Well Fred...I got the bits in place texturing team/time and the exp. of having already done this gig winning the 2006 SL Games Expo...the only thing is I'd be glad to work with you, but then in reality what do we need him for (joke...sorta lol).

Glad to see youre still around Fred, thought you had your SL 'SHINING' - Here's Johnny! moment and bolted like so many others.

Barnum follow up with me in the PM we already got going...later brahs.

(i never left sl just became 'ALTastic')
the HUD i talked about has nothing to do with his idea except that its open enough that a scripter could add it to the list of programs :D
