Any fans of Battlefield 2/Star Wars Battlefront out there? I have purchased nearly half a sim in Mainland for building a testing a system to support the conquest mode of my favorite online game, Xbox Live's Star Wars Battlefront. I looking for volunteers and people to hire to help bring this fun mode of play to Second Life:

I've quickly fallen in love with Second Life and all you creative people. As an older gamer I really enjoy just wandering, chatting (despite no voice support) and shopping. But there comes a time for some real gameplay. I checked a few of the Gor sims and there is obviously a portion of the community who likes to take a break from socializing for the action. I've spent the last five days buying weapons and gadgets, reading about various combat add-ons (Laura, CCC) and chatting with users and designers and its obvious there's both interest and ability.
So I'm trying something new: as a coder starting back in sixth grade on the TRS-80 Model 1/Level 2 (yeppers, a Trash-80 in 1977), I've always been a "do-it-all-myself" kinda guy. Still am in my FL job. But here I'd rather pull of the talents of the many residents either through volunteers or hires to see if we can make something I want to play personally available for anyone in SL.
For those unfamiliar with Conquest mode games, they basically features two or more teams vying for areas of land containing a control node which can be converted by remaining near it unopposed by the enemy for a period of time. Your team members can only span from a node under their control. The team that captures all the nodes therefore is the victor.
I would like to take these concepts and throw in the wonderful SL twist: customization. The idea of dragons fighting UFOs, melee weapons and psi-powers versus plasma rifles, multi-player transports pursued by spider walkers makes me quite giddy. The only thing standing in the way is a common damage model that makes it all fair, and the code necessary to attach players to teams and allow them to choose a spawn location upon "death".
Rather than get into a lot of specifics right here I am preparing a book with the THiNc system on my land, there are suggestion boxes and billboards, and am trying to organize everything in-game as that's where I want to be. I will be happy to discuss things here is the forums, and update progress, but what's so great about SL is the community itself, and that community is logged into the game.
If you have any interest in this project please stop by my land or IM me. I would like to start a group if this project moves forward, and at the second step by a full island for the group to test what hopefully would be a product that other SL residents could use/buy for their own areas/islands and a set of tools vehicle, weapon, armor and avatar makers could script into their objects that would support the gameplay.
Thank you to everyone who took time to read the long-winded (though short by my usual standards) post and hope to see you in your Second Life.
