Background story:
After a planet they were visiting was overrun by the foul forces of the warp and declared exterminatus, the Scythebeasts returned to their home planet, Leos Prime. With their massive ships, they carried all of the civilians they could from the dying planet with them on their journey to their home world. But alas, the forces of chaos has followed them in pursuit of the technology they had brought from the planet. With word of such, many other races, thick with greed, curiosity, or just to smash stuff have come to the planet in search of this technology as well.
The Old World
Planet Diamanta, a world once thought to be completely lost to the Warp, had reemerged. Protected by a powerful anti-Warp field, it's citizens were spared from the terrifying effects of the warp. Upon it's discovery, the Scythebeasts made landfall and begun to study technologies that had been lost since the Golden Age of Technology. But alas, it was not to remain long. The beginning of the end was marked with strange stones that had the power of the warp itself that had lodged themselves into machinery, causing them to go berserk and destroy everything in their path. With such then came Chaos. In droves they came, so thick were they, it was said they blotted out the sun. The world screamed in agony as they sought to destroy everything. With heresy in all directions, and the filth of chaos permeating the planet to it's core, The valiant space marines who inhabited the planet picked up the survivors and pulled out, but not before the lord inquisitor himself called for the orbital cannons to be brought to bear, and with a single word, turned the planet to a baron, lifeless wasteland. It was said a strange black and red creature floated above the planet before it was destroyed, saying only the words, "This worlds is at it's end." We currently have no evidence whether these reports are true or works of delusions.
New World
With the destruction of Diamanta, the Scythebeasts gathered all of the technology and civilians they could carry on their ships and headed back to their homeworld. They had settled the civilians over near a new mining field and begun to build a new city. An old one had layed there, devastated by war, is now the home of some of the workers and a hotspot for gangs and other groups. A few military bases lay about here as well now used by various armies as they engage in battles.
The Arrival of Chaos
The forces of chaos had taken to the world in hopes of finding the technology that the valiant space marines had so denied them when they destroyed the previous world. With the word of technology from a lost time, many other races rushed to Leos Prime to obtain the technology, whether for greed, curiosity, or maybe simply to have something they can bash an opponent with a little arder'. (GO ORKS!) Now the space marines must fend off these invaders. This is where our story begins.
