If you've ever participated in combat in SL, and especially if your goal was first-person-shooter combat, not roleplay combat, you may have noticed that many "traditional" features of first-person shooters are absent from SL combat, be it LL-damage or "safezone" systems. Things like...

= Respawn points
= Teams / Disabled team damage
= Health Pickups
= Sim- and Grid-wide statistics / records of your performance
= Trophies for kills
= Critical Hits
= Fall damage
= Handicaps
= Un-Abusable AoE/Splash damage
= Headshots
= "Capture the Flag" and similar gametypes
= Vehicle Support
= (Safezone systems) Weapon/Movement/Vision disabling on death
= Automatic Updates

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to have all of that?

There is.

The Brave New World Combat System.

Today, vehicle support and a (free) vehicle compatibility API was released!

My goals in developing the BNWCS are as follows:

= Provide a superior combat experience to combatants, compared to other SL combat systems
= Allow combat zone owners plenty of points of customization, to allow them to offer the kind of combat experience THEY want
= Provide a friendly, welcoming, and open system for developers to create content for

So if you've ever been disappointed by SL combat, whether as a combatant, sim owner, or developer, I cordially invite you to give the BNWCS a try - and if you have any complaints, suggestions, or requests, please let me, Matthias Rozensztok, know, and it's quite likely that I'll make the change.

Sound good? Here are some links to get you started:

I will also be happy to assist in setting up combat areas or getting the Developer Kit's API working for you, as well :)
