One I've always been active to longer then any other forum, is www.onrpg.com
Site for games <mostly free ones> and game developers who are not just from america, but also in many outlying regions. One obvious one is the daily www.gamespy.com i'm sure everyone knows about this, since it reviews games, previews, even mods created by other users |

Are there any resources specificly designed for game creation in SL...
Got my head around the basics of the scripting engine, just need to figure out how to tie it all together, game boards, pieces, cards, displays and all that jazz... |

I frequent MAME.net, which is about developing nonworking PCBs into playable, emulated ROMs.

This article on Videogame Aesthetics by David Hayward isn't part of a bigger site but a series of things like this would be extremely lucid and compelling:
http://modetwo.net/users/nachimir/vga/index.html I'm hoping the author does more along this line, if not already. _____________________

Issue # 1 of the Game Studios International Journal of Computer Games Research is out. At a quick glance it looks like a worthwhile read.

Right now the scripting language (LSL) is still far inferior to actually programming things. We still need items that could be game specific scripts to allow more complex and dynamic use to create better games but for what we got now, its not that bad! I certainly wouldnt complain at what some the smart meatbags have added to the sl world. I certainly enjoy Darklife and a good game of chess ^_^ Maybe after 1.7 we will get a more customizeable set of gesturing and scripting language, its way too limited in both of these areas.

No, it's not computer games, directly, but I have run and played in old-school roleplaying games in SL, SO IT COUNTS. _____________________
