Danger Zone is now open!

The 2006 Games Expo doesn't officially open until 5PM, but you can get in early and beat the crowds.

Danger Zone is a simple press-your-luck style table game, with sharks. It features dozens of textures, sound effects, particle effects, animations, you name it! Grab a friend or two and start a game -- no host required, just three to eight players.

Wear your Danger Zone Badge and you'll earn tournament points for every game you win or place second. Each week the top tournament scorer qualifies for a slot in the championship match, where eight finalists will compete for the title of Danger Zone Champion.

FIRST PLACE..... L$25,000
SECOND PLACE..... L$10,000

All other finalists will receive L$2,500

For complete contest rules, game tips, free t-shirts, and more, visit the Danger Zone Arena

Shouldn't this post be in classifieds etc? Or the "Special Attractions" section which stipulates... "Announce parties, contests, games, charitable auctions and fun things to do"

Also don't you think it is a little unethical to put up prize money to get ppl to play a game, I could easily put up 100k to play any of the EXPO games, but that sort of defeats the point of it being an EXPO as the orignal credo stated.

:/

I felt it was appropriate. The "About This Conference" thread states
From: someone
For gamers who want to talk about their favorite in-world games, exchange play tips, challenge other Residents, and for developers who want to promote their new games, and exchange building and scripting tips with other developers.

Unlike most of the Expo games, Danger Zone is new. It hasn't been available for people to play until now.

The Expo is about getting people to play games. In the original Expo announcement, you're even encouraged to create prizes:
From: Wilder Linden
developers should consider how to make their games maximally re-playable. Consider prizes, or a ranking system, a tournament, regular Events listings, or other elements that encourage replayability.

Danger Zone has prizes, a ranking system, and a tournament. As far as I can tell, these are all novel innovations in Second Life. Every other game I see just has players contributing to a pot which then pays out a percentage. I wanted to try something different.
