Hey!
We are doing research about Second Life, it's for a project at school!
Our questions to you are: What is it you are looking for in Second Life? And what's so special about playing it?
Thnx, it would be a great help!!

You might want to do enough research to find out that many Second Life users don't think of SL as a game and don't consider themselves to be playing.
I'd suggest reading the wikipedia article on Second Life to get started with.
If you look through the forums you can find existing discussions of your questions.
This forum is for people who create games that can be played using Second Life as a platform.

You can quote this...

Well... I'm not an expert, but I believe everyone logs into SL for a different, and very personal, reason.
You have some who log in searching for any kind of outside communication, bond, friendship, or relationship in general without having to worry about their own insecurities about their personality, voice, physical appearance, different abilities, etc. They have a hard time with social interaction when it comes to face-to-face contact, and so try to reach out here, where they can look any way they want, have abilities that they couldn't have in the "real world."
There are some who come in here just to play a game... to be able to go and role play any kind of fantasy they want to, and then log out at the end of it and go back to whatever they do in their daily lives. They could live every day as an overweight school bus driver, but in SL, they might be a mysterious, svelte rogue or a superhero.
There are some who come here just to play out sexual fantasies that they have been too afraid to try in their daily lives.
There are some who come in to gain experience creating, scripting, working on their own abilities in art and design.
There are a ton of reasons to come into Second Life, and to each person, the importance of those reasons varies. I think the most important thing is: keep the main thing the main thing. This IS just a game, whether you look at it that way or not. Your real life will continue whether you choose to forget about it for a while or not, and you MIGHT just be missing out on something far more important and spectacular by choosing to ignore these facts and stare into a computer screen instead.
Thanks for asking, and good luck on your report.
