SL Hockey: Season 5 beginning soon!!!

Hey folks! SL Hockey is about to enter its 5th season of play. I want to take a minute to update some league information and extend an invitation for you to join.

The league was founded in 2006 and we offer a free, spectator team sport environment, open to all. It is governed by a group of league members on a volunteer basis. You do not need to have RL hockey experience to join. Guys, ladies, and creatures of undetermined origins...All welcome! The game rules and basic game play is simple and we provide training before you start.

All the equipment you need is located at the rink for $0. It is also available on SLExchange for $0.

NEW THIS SEASON! We now offer a farm division of 4 teams: Admirals, Crocs, Eagles and Landsharks. All rookies will be immediately placed on a farm team and learn the basics of the game with other rookies. The teams are coached by long term SLH members.

A draft to the regular (North American) division will be held intermittantly during the season to get folks placed who are ready to go.

The North American division currently consists of 6 teams: Cobras, Ice Lords, Moose, Rebels, Whales and Wolves. The teams vote in a captain each season and face off against each other during regular season play of 30 games each team. There is then a playoff or championship series held to determine the season cup winner!

We are currently working on reinstating our European time-friendly teams. August Lusch is the commissioner there and please message him if you are interested in playing these SL midday games.

The rink is located on the sim of Jericho Hill, a nice class 5 sim and it is modeled after your friendly neighborhood rink.

As an update to the above post:

Due to changes brought about by the initiation of Havok, we now have a new script! This was bad news at first, when the old one stopped working on D-Day...heheh..but good news in the long run! The script is almost complete and Season 5 is scheduled to begin on April 27th. The new script, written by a creator of Wastelands, has many new and improved features over the previous one, and we are excited to start the season!

Draft has already been held, but you can still join. The group name has also been changed (to comply with new TOS regulations) and in order to play, you need to do only the two following steps:

1. Join the group inside Second Life. Search groups for "hockey" and the correct group is

SLHA (SL Hockey Association) created by Jack Belvedere.

2. IMPORTANT! Sign up at our website.

Once you're signed up at the website, you can be placed on a team. Be sure to have your SL avatar's name indicated on your profile once you log in. Just go to Your Settings and then Edit My Profile.
